About this listen
A renowned spy’s reputation is put to the test when he becomes an ally to his former enemy in the first installment of Yuri Kozlov’s trilogy from Alma Katsu, the award-winning author of Red Widow.
Yuri Kozlov is well known as the “Russian James Bond.” So when he defects to the United States during Putin’s war on Ukraine, suspicions arise around his loyalties. To prove he’s turned over a new leaf, he’ll have to convince his handlers—and the CIA’s rigorous debriefing and analysis—that his intentions are as honorable as he claims.
The Vanishing Man is part of The Spy Who Vanished, a three-part journey into the political unrest that forces Russia’s most famous spy to choose between his legacy and who he wants to become. Read or listen to each immersive story in a single sitting.

This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Story is there. Voice acting doesn’t match what I imagine.
Yuri feels older and too stereotypical via the voice actor of a what I think is intended through the story. I think I would have enjoyed reading the book instead of listening. Overall I want to continue to see what happens in the other short stories.

Good story, terrible narrator.
The narrator has a TERRIBLE voice for the main Russian character. it distracts from a good story.

Weird Ending
I don’t get the premise of this short story. It left me hanging, thinking it was just the first chapter of a longer book.
