About this listen

Three thousand years ago, deep inside the forests of India, a great 'thought- revolution' was brewing. In those forest labs, the brightest scientist-philosophers contemplated the universe and reflected upon the already-ancient texts called the Vedas, gaining some startling insights into questions that we still have no watertight answers to, like:

  • What is the universe made of?
  • How do I know I'm looking at a tree when I see one?
  • Who am I? My body, my mind, my intelligence, my emotions, or NOTA? And where did they put those explosive findings?

In a sprawling body of goose-bumpy, thought-provoking and fascinating oral literature called the Upanishads!

Intimidated? Don't be! For this joyful, fun guide to some of India's most enduring and secular wisdoms, reinterpreted for first-time explorers by author Roopa Pai, is guaranteed to keep you listening. Why haven't you checked it out yet?

SHARANYA GOPINATH IS THE G.O.A.T NARATOR

I can't thank enough to Sharanya for making this book such a beautiful and enjoyable experience for me. I urge you to please to go on narrating more books, she can sing as well so elegantly. I prefer audible as I have vision problems. As for Roopa Pai, amazing books as always! The only criticism I would make is the dating of the vedas and upanishads. There are various theories on the dating of the vedas and from my research and understanding it is far older than 7000 years, also there is no confirmation on dates of the upanishads as well . Other than that bravo to both! Thank you so much, please make more materials like this!

Mindset

The story is from a mindset or ideas of colonial India. which does not credit the facts but instead is just to spreading a false narratives and seems very biased about her views.

Good read but disappointed.

I loved Roopa pai's Geeta for children. This one is going good too. But I am very disappointed that she portrayed Varnashram as oppressive and birth based system. She herself points out examples like Rishikas which proves that everyone had right to learn and gain knowledge. Ved vyas and Valmiki who wrote Ramayana and Mahabharata were not born Brahmins. The varnas were not birth based. Specially in book made for children such portrayal will have negative perception towards the culture that author is trying to help new generation to appreciate.
