The Vendetti Queen had a slow start as the first half still focused on the Vendetti tradition. And while this might be the foundation of the family, it was a bit too much for me. Fortunately, the story picked up as Violet has to deal with her family and she and Matteo consolidate their marriage. I do wish the drama with Violet's family had been interwoven and developed more.

There are more glimpses to mafia elements and the lifestyle, yet most of them are not fully develop. The connection with Italy, the arranged marriages, and the hints to the next books were fascinating. So were the epilogues, which give more insight into Violet and Matteo as a solid mafia couple. And Matteo's birthday present? Shockingly perfect.

After listening to the audiobook, I must say that the narrators took away from the story. I understand it was a challenge because of the many characters, but the male voice was inconsistent when it had to interpret one of the younger six Vendetti brothers. Meanwhile, Violet always sounded the same even amid tragedy.

Sapphire did an amazing job with this second book. This story is full of dominance and passion and the hotness oh boy there's plenty of that. We get to see Violet grow and Matteo and her as a team together. I loved listening to every page it was like bringing that character's to life the two of them did a fantastic job with the narration the story. I can't wait to read or listen to the next book in this series.
