About this listen

Nicky is sick of the violence he sees while driving a cab in the city. On the night of his brother Simon's eighteenth birthday, a gang senselessly beat him to death, and Nicky hopes to find the men responsible.

Nicky rescued Didi, a dancer, from two attackers, and they became friends as kindred spirits who both suffered a tragedy. But they have secrets. Didi's secret is a daughter, and Nicky's is that he is the Northbridge Vigilante who has killed men as they carried out violent crimes. Nicky's last victim was the brother of a drug dealer, Jimmy Mallory, head of a powerful biker gang.

The city explodes with gang warfare, fighting to control the drugs and nightclubs because of the murder of Mallory's brother. The police are closing in on The Vigilante, but so is Mallory, who will stop at nothing to get revenge.

Nicky has found the love of his life and finally someone to live for if only he can stay out of jail, and survive.

Great story and perfectly matched audio.

This is the second book I have listened to by Stephen B. King and once again I loved it. His character development pulls you in quick and keeps you invested from beginning to end. It was easy to get lost in this world and feel their emotions as the story moves forward. Geoffrey did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life and his voice reading was a perfect complement to the story. I look forward to my next book from Mr. King and the voice of Mr. Boyes.

Never cheered for the villan before

Probably one of Stephens best. Set in Perth Western Australia, a simple taxi driver seeks vengance for the senseless and unpunished death of his brother. Deciding to become a Vigilante, he methodically starts eliminating the brutal criminals until he happens to kill the brother of a mob boss, unleashing....well you'll just have to see. King has expertly handled the tentative and moving relationship with a stripper and her heart rending young daughter.
Everything you want in a thriller,

Childish story

Reader was too dramatic and rhythmic for me. Story was childishly predictable. Named repeated much too frequently, etc.
