About this listen

With more than 200 million copies of his novels sold, Dean Koontz is an undisputed master. And in The Vision, he once again displays the talent that led the Chicago Sun-Times to call him "brilliant"- and the San Diego Union-Tribune to praise his "always riveting" writing and his "wonderfully fiendish" plots.

The Vision - one of Koontz’ early novels - is a chilling look into the paranormal and what occurs when a psychic channels the mind of a crazed killer. Mary Bergen, a gifted clairvoyant, uses her psychic ability and haunting visions to help the police solve crimes both past and present while feeling powerless to stop the murders, until she envisions her own death.

It was interresting to hear an earlier Koontz

Where does The Vision rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Even this early Koontz is better than most novels. Hints of what Koonz will become.

What could Dean Koontz have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Rewritten the book with his current ability! [SMILE]

Have you listened to any of Dan John Miller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Nope.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me urge the writing & plot to come up to Koontz's current ability

A Very Good Book that's quick to get thru in a day

I stayed home sick one day and finished it all by dinner time! It was a bit scary, but on the whole, one of the tamest books written by Dean Koontz.

Early Dean Koontz. Phenomenal!

This is a great Dean Koontz novel from the 1970's. His talent is very apparent in even these early career writings. Never disappointed! Dan John Miller does a great job as narrator.

Non stop whining

The voice Dan John Miller decided to give the heroine is annoying, weak, and whining. I just can’t finish the book, I got in about an hour and a half before I had to stop. It’s really, really bad. Like, imagine Shelley Duvall and Don Knotts had a baby and then that baby grew up to totally dependent and incapable of making her own decisions. I get why the killer hated her.

Pychic Visions~ help find a serial killer~3 STARS~

PLOT: Psychic Mary helps find a serial killer~ BAD narration~

Mary was sexually abused as a child. She now an adult~ married and uses her "psychic" gifts to help with crime. She has reoccurring "visions" /nightmares. This helps bring her own visons back. She is able to use her psychic ability to tie in a serial killer with her own abuse. This is a good story. Mary is likeable and her story is a interesting one. What causes the 3 STAR over all is the BAD narration. The reader tries a female voice that simply is one of the worst ever. It took an effort to even finish the book due to that. Better narration would have made this a more enjoyable book.

Not bad for an easy listen

The narrator could have (should have) made this one much darker. I feel like this narrator was a bit too whimsical.

great plot twist

I'm a big Koontz fan and this work did not disappoint. I was looking for a twist in the story but I had the wrong guy as the killer. There was some gruesome details in the revealing at the end that seemed a bit over the top but in true Koontz fashion.

Animals

Even if animal mutalation is part of life and definitely part of many sadistic killers horrific
behaviour, i wish there was a warning about it as it bothers me in the extreme.

Squeaky voice

This is an early Koontz and I had predicted the ending far too fast. But I still think it would be a fairly good book with a better narrator his voice whining high pitched voice for Mary is so irritating I almost stopped listing.
