Publisher's summary

They're out there....
Waiting. Watching. Unseen by normal eyes, but all too visible to Slim MacKenzie, a young man blessed - or cursed - by Twilight Eyes.

They're out there....
Lurking in the darkest shadows of an eerie, moonlit carnival. Feeding their twisted needs with human suffering - and fiendishly plotting the downfall of the human race.

They're out there....
But don't scream. They'll hear you.

I'm a huge DK fan, but...

this has been my least favorite Dean Koontz book. I can see some similarities between the character in this book (Slim McKenzie) and Koontz's newest character, Odd Thomas.
I'm pretty sure that this book was one of Koontz's earlier books, and it was only recently recorded for audio. I've also decided I'm not a fan of the narrator, as he doesn't seem to do the character(s) any justice. So, in turn I've decided to not download the next newest release with the same narrator. It'll be the only Koontz book that I have not downloaded from audible.com.
I'd pick almost any other Koontz book over this one. Okay story, bland narrator, download Whispers or Intensity instead.

another great story

This book takes you places you never thought of. Dean Koontz brings you characters that explain much of the evil in this world. But with it always the good gifted folk that can battle the evil forces. A truly good story! Keep them coming Mr. Koontz!

Third time I have read or listen to this book

Great premise with a typical koontz hero type. All his heroes second guess themselves but not agonizingly so. This story is a post apocalyptic story but thousands of years later with mankind paying for the sins of this long ago civilization. Beware of goblins.

Interesting But Not Koontz Best

I like long audio books and I love many of Dean Koontz books so I grabbed this one without much fore thought. It’s definitely a mystery and I was wondering if the main character was a serial killer and the events were being described from his point of view for a good while.

There are many surprises and sharp turns but I never really got hooked in by the events.

The narrator was okay. Not annoying but it felt like his voice droned on and on in parts.

This is just all my opinion. I should have listened to the sample. I can pretty much tell if I want to listen to a voice for 15+ hours from the same.
