About this listen

The line between their world and ours is thinner than we think....

The sleepy, eastern Washington wheat town of Antioch has become a gateway for the supernatural - from sightings of angels and a weeping crucifix to a self-proclaimed prophet with an astounding message.

The national media and the curious all flock to the little town - a great boon for local business but not for Travis Jordan. The burned-out former pastor has been trying to hide his past in Antioch. Now the whole world is headed to his backyard to find the Messiah, and in the process, every spiritual assumption he has ever held will be challenged. The startling secret behind this visitation ultimately pushes one man into a supernatural confrontation that has eternal consequences.

Fabulous but take a deep breath.

This story is intense and so well written. We listened to it on a road trip and took it in a little too fast. Take short breaks with this one. It's terrific. Also, if you can't get a Perretti book narrated by Perretti, you want it narrated by Tom Taylorson. He does a fabulous job with all of the different voices. Very well done.

A Bit Uneven

This book overall is excellent. It's got everything you look for in Christian fiction. It's rooted in Christian life, but has a nice story to follow. However, it goes off the rails a bit as it goes along. It's not that it's dated so much, as just hard to follow. It flashes from present to past tense in a most confusing way. The past storyline is lovely, and then when it abruptly switches to present tense it is jolting. And the bizarreries with the "messiah" figure just go on too long, but not terribly so. Tom Taylorson's narration is excellent. Overall, it's very good.
