The citadel has long been the stronghold of Highkell. All that is about to change because the traitor, Vasic, is marching on the capital. But Vasic the traitor is waiting. And this was all just as he planned.

Susan Murray is a graduate of the Open University and describes herself as a "serial house renovator". She was recently longlisted for the Bristol Short Story Prize. The Waterborne Blade is her debut novel.

What did you love best about The Waterborne Blade?

That Alweena is learning and growing - no longer the pampered queen who doesn't know how to start a fire

If you’ve listened to books by Susan Murray before, how does this one compare?

I have not listened to other books by SMurray. But I can say that Alweena and Weaver kept me listening. It was also interesting that some of my favorite characters ended getting killed and I miss them.

What does Danielle Winter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good voice for the fantasy time period and characters
