About this listen

Mother to the child who will doom a kingdom...or save it.

Adelaide didn’t mean to doom an entire kingdom. She only cut the queen’s lifeline to save the newborn prince.

Now banished, she is determined to prove herself even if that means playing with fate.

But all magic has a price, and the spell meant to bring her a human child instead brings her one sired by one of the darkest Fae.

Can she raise the child to save the kingdom he is fated to destroy?

Life was much easier when she was able to see ahead.

The Weaver’s Son is a Rumpelstiltskin origin story that ends where the original tale begins!

This was my first Stevie Rae Causey's book. The story is definitely imaginative, and captivating. This is a dark retelling of Rumpelstiltskin Origin story. Cara Firestone did a great job with the narration. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A dark, creative retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin story full of magic, witches, and Fae.

Poor Adelaide — she has the best of intentions, and yet everything goes from bad to worse no matter what she does. She just can't win. There are a few original twists in addition to incorporating aspects of the more familiar myth. The story was entertaining and went by quickly.

Cara Firestone performed the story, and did well with the voices and narration.

I enjoyed this creative story which related Rumpelstiltskin's mother's history. The story was unusual and filled with descriptive phrases that created beautiful pictures within my imagination. The characters were complex and interesting. There were enough twists to keep my attention as the story unfolded. Cara Firestone's narration was fine, and her voice was pleasing. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

'The Weaver's Son' is an origin story for Rumpelstiltskin. It is a very good story, well written, plotted with likeable characters. There are unexpected twists which I found enjoyable. I really enjoyed the book for its magic and personal relationships. I recommend 'The Weaver's Son' to anyone who likes fairy tales that any kid can listen to and enjoy. But it's not just for kids.

I would have enjoyed it more with another narrator. She just isn't someone I want to listen to.

This story seems to be the epitome of the phrase "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions" and Adelaide is the poster-child (poster-adult?) for it. This was such a neat reimagining of the Rumplestiltskin tale, and it had me empathizing with Rumplestiltskin instead of seeing him as the villain. I also liked the explanation for where the name Rumplestiltskin came from.

I have read several fairy-tale retellings by Stevie Rae Causey and have not been disappointed yet. This story did not disappoint either. If you like retellings of fairy tales, then I highly recommend this story.

For this story, I listened to the audiobook, which was narrated by Cara Firestone. This was my first time listening to one of her books, and she did a fantastic job with the narration. She pulled me right into the story and before I knew it, several hours had passed and the story was over.

A great retelling!

I enjoyed the story and if there is a sequel I will most likely follow up with it….but I will read it.

This narrator did not do it for me and I found myself struggling with this audiobook because of it.

Enjoyable
