About this listen

One wedding. No funeral. One unqualified catastrophe.

"Dominic" was the little white lie 30-and-still-unwed Sophy Metcalfe told to soothe her nagging mother. But now her perfect sister Belinda is tying the knot and Sophy's going to have to produce the charming, successful ideal boyfriend she invented, since the genuine article vanished after a single, resoundingly unsuccessful evening.

Desperate, she hires a male escort sight unseen to get her through the Nuptials from Hell. But the trouble with white lies is they tend to multiply, especially at a gala disaster filled with new intrigues and old flames. And the trouble with Josh, her hired date, is he's kind of cute, in a rugged, too sexy for his own good way. And then there's the biggest trouble of all, because every wedding day is followed by a night. And, of course, a morning after.

Critic reviews

"Despite Sophy's near inability to tell the truth, she's charming and the author does a fine job of conveying her appeal." (Publishers Weekly)

3 Wedding Date Stars

Not like the movie...AT ALL..
I loved the movie so much I have watched it more times than I care to say without looking like a crazy person.

so when I had a few hours to kill I thought I would grab this book. It was not anything like I was expecting.

It's an OK book not one I would've seek out on my own. Not really memorable if I'm being honest.

it was just a good book to pass the time and that's OK not every book is going to be heart stopping or jaw-dropping right?

*You don't have to like my review but it's 100% my opinion, and I'm allowed to have it.*

Not what I expected

very hard to follow, did not like the British accent of the author. would not suggest this book. I saw the movie and wanted to read the book but this was bad.

Sit-com

The plot is about as engaging as a B- grade movie or a 30 minute sitcom comedy. The romance is at a high-school level, but the characters are adults, ostensibly.

Such a disappointment

The original title of this book is “Asking for Trouble,” and I read it years ago and really enjoyed it. It is NOTHING like the movie and that is a good thing in my opinion. Recently, I was looking for something to pass the time on a flight and found this again. Unfortunately, this version is abridged. I wish they had told me this was a shortened version in the description. What a waste of a credit. Do yourself a favor and buy the paperback. Great story when whole!

Wow was this boring...

Would you try another book from Elizabeth Young and/or Jasmine Hyde?

Jasmine Hyde was the best part about this book. I actually really like her narration. I won't read anything from Elizabeth Young ever again. I don't even know how or why she was published.

What was most disappointing about Elizabeth Young’s story?

That it was NOTHING like the movie. I have no idea why they even have a picture of the movie on the front cover.

What about Jasmine Hyde’s performance did you like?

Lovely voice and good reading.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Wedding Date?

All of it and make a totally new story... Which is what the movie editor must have done.

Any additional comments?

Don't listen or read this if you have any hope of it being anything like the movie. I have the book too and couldn't get through it. Now I know why.
