Publisher's summary

The robbery ended in murder, the killers claimed to be terrorists, and the only cooperative witness feared for his life. Police Officer Matt Payne knew the dangers of his profession - but never thought that he himself would be the one who needed protection....

In Badge of Honor, W.E.B. Griffin reveals the explosive world of law enforcement with the same power and authenticity that made his Brotherhood of War and the Corps series nationwide best-sellers.

1970s Language and Prejudice

Like the other books in this series set in the 1970s, The Witness contains horribly racist and sexist language which is incredibly accurate for that decade and incredibly offensive. While I cringed every time I heard the "N" word, I am thankful that overt racist remarks are no longer tolerated by most Americans.

The plot and characters were engrossing, suspenseful and even funny. especially to someone extremely familiar with the Philadelphia area. I chuckled every time someone had to stop and look for a pay phone, remembering life before cell phones, the internet and GPS. I had forgotten the term "dropping a dime".

Great story, with too much detail.

I've listen to all the books in the series to this point. I really like the story, but Griffin seems to have diarrhea of the pen! If I didn't like the stories so much I don't think I could bring myself to listen to another book! But I will struggle through because these are great stories!

Meh

There are a few discrepancies in the story, as far as background stories. Not happy with the performance of Russotto. His mispronunciation of easy words and phrases, along with his accents in other W. E. B. Griffin novels borders on offensive. I’ve always enjoyed Griffin’s novels.

Badge of Honor The Witness

Having read the the actual book and listened to the audible book at least twice I still love the series. I have read everything W.E.B. Griffin has written and his passing has greatly saddened me for I believe the world has lost a truly great writer and story teller.

Really?

I can't remember the last time that I so thoroughly disagreed with the ratings of other Audible listeners.

With so many wonderful books to listen to, I would not waaste our time with this one.

Will someone please shoot the narrator

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Generally it was a good story, once you got use to the horrible narration

What did you like best about this story?

Good story, pretty standard Grifin

What didn’t you like about Michael Russotto’s performance?

The narration was horrible, the guy has no idea about how to narrate a story

Did The Witness inspire you to do anything?

no
