About this listen

Going home digs up bad memories, so it's something Bureau of Special Investigations agent Cooper Dayton tries to avoid. When he's guilted into a visit, Cooper brings along Oliver Park, his hot new werewolf partner, in the hopes the trip will help clarify their status as a couple...or not.

When Park's keen shifter nose uncovers a body in the yard and Cooper's father is the prime suspect, Cooper knows they're on their own. Familial involvement means no sanctioned investigation. They'll need to go rogue and solve the mystery quietly or risk seeing Cooper's dad put behind bars.

The case may be cold, but Park and Cooper's relationship heats up as they work. And yet if Cooper can't figure out what's going on between them outside of the bedroom, he'll lose someone he... Well, he can't quite put into words how he feels about Park. He knows one thing for sure: He's not ready to say goodbye, though with the real killer inching ever closer...he may not have a choice.

Contains mature themes.

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

It's Complicated

performance: the narrator isn't bad. He just doesn't "do voices." He reads well and clearly and with good intonation. There just aren't different voices for different characters.

the story: the biggest problem in this series is Cooper, the main character. He is a selfish man, parsimonious in his trust and affection. A habitual liar. Given to lashing out in fear and anger. His back story doesn't justify it. As a male romantic lead...he's awful.

But he's a good narrator. He tells the story well, and the story is interesting. I read the books before I listened to them, and I'm still somewhat puzzled by why I like them when I don't really like Cooper.

I liked this, but I can absolutely understand why someone might not. That makes for a rotten recommendation, but there it is.

Even better than the first!

This was fantastic! I really enjoyed how well this was written. It is obvious the author really cares about this story and world he’s created. I’m happy to say this was even more enjoyable than the first.

I love Park

I absolutely adore Park.... I like Connor too, but he tends to be rather prickly and it makes me sad for Park. The second book sees them really develop into a couple all while solving a series of murders in Connors home town. great narration

Loved it!

This book is amazing! I love Cooper and Oliver so much. They're so adorable together. This story is intense. It was hard to put it down. It's exciting for Oliver to meet Cooper's family and for them to find out things...
Cooper is so funny. I love how Park calls him a porcupine. 😂
I don't listen to ai or virtual voice so I'm glad the audiobook narrator is human. Erik Bloomquist did a good job.

Great second book . You will want more.

This is very well written, pulls you in and never lets you go. Making it an audible was a great choice because listening to them you become more attached. Park and Cooper dancing around each other you find yourself telling them to just get it together. This is the second book of a great series. The person picked to read this was just perfect, he is well versed and articulate. He makes them come alive.
