About this listen
The Truth Is Out There…But So Are Lies.
#1 New York Times best-selling author Claudia Gray extends the story of The X-Files beyond its eleventh season in this thrilling--and romantic--original novel.
Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are still reeling from the death of their son William, but cautiously joyous about Scully’s unexpected pregnancy. Determined to raise this child together, Mulder and Scully struggle to find meaning away from the X-Files as they navigate the uncertain waters of their relationship. Then the FBI asks for their help tracking down two mysterious serial killers: one who seems to be able to control electricity, and another who disappears from the scene of the crime in what witnesses describe as a puff of smoke. It’s enough for the Bureau to re-open the X-Files—if Mulder and Scully are willing.
They reluctantly agree, cautious about what it might mean for them and their unborn child but determined to find justice for the killers’ victims. But their return to the X-Files sparks the interest of a shadowy cabal, the heirs to the now-dead Syndicate, and Mulder and Scully soon discover that their investigation is connected to a worldwide threat on an unprecedented scale . . . one with their own future at its heart.

Story
In September 1993, a TV show like no other appeared on our screens, asking us to consider the essence of truth and belief, to think about the nature and roles of science and humanity, and to question what we were told by those in power. Combining horror, science fiction, drama, crime, and comedy with cinematic filmmaking, The X-Files transported the paranoia of the sixties and seventies to the technologically savvy nineties as it followed two iconic characters, FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, in their labyrinthine pursuit of truth.

The Battle of Serenity Valley was the turning point that led the Independents to their defeat at the hands of the Alliance. Yet the Browncoats had held the valley for weeks against all odds, before being ordered to lay down their arms. Command stated they refused to send in airpower because the ground war was "too hot". But the soldiers who were there insist that was not true.... While picking up a new cargo on Persephone, Captain Malcolm Reynolds is kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats who suspect him of sabotaging the Independents during the war.

Decent story. Excessive virtue signaling.
X-Files stories are usually great, and this one is good. Can we leave all the virtue signaling somewhere else and just enjoy a story?

Stuck with end of show
As an X File the story was good. And love these characters so much I’m gonna listen. The problem is because it is set after the relaunch finale it is stuck with one of the worst finale storylines in tv history. Set in season 1 to 7 without the stupid and it would have been 5 stars

Compelling story that continues the Xfiles with Mulder & Scully post S11
Intriguing story, well written and gives satisfaction to the post S11 continuation of the XFiles and Mulder and Scully. The explanation to the demise of the syndicate are plausible aa well as what is happening with M&S and their lives together. The story ends on a hopeful note.

Perihelion: I Accept Your Apology
What can I say about Perihelion except THANK YOU, CLAUDIA GRAY! This was a masterful extension of the X-Files series and actually serves to make up for the disaster that was My Struggle 4. In fact, it was so delightfully in-character and intriguing that it makes up for any of Season 10 and 11’s shortcomings! The plot was dynamic and added meaningful layers to an already complex story, but ones that actually make sense and interest the reader (or listener in my case). The mythology of the X-Files was so muddled at this point that Gray had the odds stacked against her, but she managed to pull through with fabulous results! Moose and Squirrel’s characterizations were spot on, the new players (specifically Vane, Craddock and Avatar) are quirky and brilliantly written, plus the MSR was shockingly cannon compliant! As a proud phile of many, many moons I look forward to where this new plot will take Mulder and Scully - and where it will take other readers such as myself. So again, thank you Claudia Gray and PLEASE keep ‘em coming! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Feels like classic X-Files
Claudia Gray’s books are always great, and this book is no exception. Mulder and Scully _feel_ like Mulder and Scully. The plot carries on existing X-Files plotlines while pushing everything forward. And some classic references are tossed in for fans

I Want More!
This was so much fun to read! I hope they keep doing new books as good as this one! I liked the way they addressed the ridiculous ending to the last season of The X-Files! I’m satisfied with the explanation for Scully being pregnant in her 50s. The MSR was perfectly done! Loved it and I really want them to continue writing books. We don’t need a reboot of the show or new agents to take Mulder and Scully’s places. Just let us have The X-Files as books and keep it focused on Mulder and Scully! There is lots that was set up here so it seems like their could be many books to follow. I hope so!
