About this listen

Samantha Rushford's future looks bright: the high school art teacher is getting ready to leave Mirror Lake and move to Boston with her ambitious boyfriend, and she hopes a diamond ring is just around the corner. But her past still has a hold on her - especially the bittersweet memory of her rebellious ex, who kissed her passionately before he left town without a word.

Since then, Lukas Spikonos has parlayed his rebel ways into life as an up-and-coming recording artist. When he shows up for a surprise gig at the high school prom, Sam is more dumbstruck than starstruck - he used the words of a poem she wrote about their breakup to create a number one hit. But Lukas hasn't returned just to impress students; he's facing some real-life responsibilities and needs Sam's help. But she has her own unresolved issues about the life she wants to lead. Will the music - and the pull of true love and family - put their hearts back in harmony?

This one took me a bit to know if I was going to like this story or not. At the 40% mark, I was still on the fence but the second half of the story was very good and I am glad that I finished. It drives me nuts when the obvious choice is skipped but it seems to happen in real life quite a bit.

It is nice to see a rock star that is not portrayed as a man-whore or an egomaniac.

Slow start - strong finish

Miranda Liasson prefects the art of writing passion in This Loving Feeling. With strong, believable characters ( Difficult to do when one is a rock-star.) the author didn't descend into the old "throw in another sex scene" to sell the book. This bad-boy turned good plot works on so many levels.

I especially love an audio book narrator who makes me forget there's only one performer.

Passion Not Pornography

the plot was unrealistic and at times hard to believe. what up and coming rock star would turn down an opportunity to tour with the rolling Stones? what loving girlfriend would expect him to? I listened to this book and the voice actor seriously annoyed me often with her voice inflections, frequent hesitations and stutters. I would never have read in my mind the way she read things out loud. also, many of the characters in the book were one dimensional like the interfering grandmother, the stereotypical selfish boyfriend, the honorary Greek grandmother, etc. everything and everybody wrapped up nice and neat in the end. I was waiting for people to start farting rainbows. I'm all for a happy ending, but prefer large doses of reality in modern romantic fiction.

over the top with lots of cheese
