About this listen

When Thorne McCafferty rushes home to the family ranch, he is thinking only about whether his sister Randi will survive the car wreck that has put her in the hospital. He never expects that Randi's E.R. doctor will be Nicole Stevenson. Nicole has never forgotten the teenage passion she shared with Thorne...or the sting of his unexplained rejection. Now she's all grown up - but he still affects her in the very same way. Will they both be able to move beyond their pasts for a second chance at a happy ending?

A great listen!

I enjoyed this book from start to finish and can't wait to listen to the rest of the series. It has a great plot, strong character development and an engaging storyline. Definitely worth the credit.

Chekov's Gun

I love Todd Haberkorn with a passion. His narrations are always fun and entertaining. He was better than the book's material.

The book isn't bad, it's okay. There aren't really any big plot twists, you can figure out where the story is going, and as a book that's more than ten years old, it's somewhat dated, but I still wanted Thorne and Nicole to get together.

However....know that going in, you're up against these:

First, please don't have sex outside, in the winter, in Wyoming or Montana or wherever they were unless you want to catch hypothermia.

Second, and this is BIG (and where Chekov's Gun comes into play), if you're going to have unprotected sex in the first act, you better have either a baby or an STD in the second. There were zero consequences of unprotected sex.

Third, while there's an HEA for the main characters, the whole reason Thorne came home - his sister's car accident - isn't resolved. I'm not sure I want to continue through two more books just to get to her story, even with Todd narrating.

Sexy Western Intrigue

This is the first book of a nice series for western romance readers. There's an intriguing plot that continues past the book (not all questions are answered by the end) and there's some hot edgy sexiness.

Duplicate - Rumors & Disclosures

Do you have any additional comments?

If you've listened to Rumors & Disclosures, these are the same stories with different titles and covers. Rumors is Thorne (book 1) and Disclosures is Slade (book 3). Matt is the only new book on Audible.

a great start to the series

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It was down to earth and real, while being hot and racy, and simultaneously hot and spicy. Jackson works a bit of everything into this brilliant tale that will capture your heart.

Jackson paints a brilliant picture of Montana, placing her amazing characters perfectly within its scope. A great deal happens in this story without becoming rushed or overdone. Jackson takes the time to expand on each element while ensuring that her readers remain engaged. She develops a seamless, complex, multi-faceted story that you’re sure to fall in love with.

Rekindled lost love and family

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, it was a pleasant diversion. It wasn't complex just a simple love story with family interests. I listened while I did chores.

Which character – as performed by Todd Haberkorn – was your favorite?

He did well with the voices, his best was Thorne.

Was Thorne worth the listening time?

Yes, light listen. Enjoyable romance.

Frivolous and a light read.

I'm only halfway through the book right now but I've already checked thrice to see that the author isn't Nora Roberts. The book is a very light read. Frivolous and not having much of a story line and bare remnants of a mystery. The story line also doesn't really catch you and make you want to read. Nothing to hold your interest. So far it's a 1 star...

...The book now done, I can clearly say that my views have not changed one bit!! The thread of a mystery that we are to be following is still hanging unsolved and the book ended very abruptly. This mirage of a mystery is to be continued in the rest of the series, that is if anyone can stomach having to read the rest of the series!!!

Bad story and worse narration..

Jeez, did they have to keep talking out loud to themselves, so someone could “huh?” or “what did you say?” Too many inner thoughts are bad enough but when they’re saying them out loud it’s just silly. And going on a horseback ride date when it’s freezing outside in a SKIRT? Give me a break, and then five minutes later Thorne has Nicole STILL outside UNDRESSED and ready to have sex, didn't say anything about a blanket at any time so I'm assuming he just put her down on the cold dirty ground and went at it, AND he was still completely dressed. Wow, that is just too stupid. If you’re going to write a scene like that it should have been in the summer, not in blowing freezing weather. This book needs to be rewritten so it makes sense.

Sorry, but this is a DNF for me at 62%. It could have been a good story but the author didn’t even bother to think of what she was doing. I wonder if she ever went out in the kind of weather she wrote about and got undressed and thought about having sex, or did she see how fast she could get dressed again. It’s ignorant for ANY author to write an outdoor sex scene when it’s freezing out.

As to the narrator: He kind of suck! No emotion, hardly any change when he did a woman’s voice. AND, believe it or not, his men’s voices sounded feminine sometimes. I can’t figure that out. I couldn’t recommend this narrator.
