About this listen

When Olivia Williams and her two younger brothers awake from a car crash, they're positive their world has changed. The talking horse is a big clue. And he has a lot to say. According to Thunder, fairies, magic, and good ol' St. Nick are all for real - on some level. Which would be incredibly awesome, but there's a problem: A rift has formed between the layers of existence, and evil Sliders are taking advantage of it - bringing violence, fear, and hatred with them.

Now, the three siblings are immersed in a tangle of reality and fantasy. One with trolls, freakish amphibians, and town-devouring rats. Fortunately, help is on hand as Thunder introduces them to a world of Shifters and other powerful beings. Like Olivia's very own Guardian, Ethan. Whom she actually does like. A lot. How could she not, when his job is to stand between her and death?

With humanity at stake, the Williams children must do more than accept the unbelievable. They must accomplish the impossible. The rift needs to be sealed, and they're the only people alive with the potential to do it.

A great book and EXCELLENT narration!!

What made the experience of listening to Thunder: The Shadows Are Stirring the most enjoyable?

Melissa Chatwood is a great narrator and the book has a fantastic storyline! The author, Hannah Sullivan, and the narrator, Melissa Chatwood, immerse you in the characters and the story. Ms. Chatwood does an excellent job presenting the characters and changing tone for each character. The story is easy to follow and I didn't want it to end!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the relationships between Olivia, her two brothers, and their friend Ethan. The relationships grow throughout the book and get stronger. There is a definite romantic touch between Olivia and Ethan. The sense of adventure is very evident from beginning to end.

Have you listened to any of Melissa Chatwood’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is my first Melissa Chatwood performance. I know this story well, and Melissa read it perfectly and professionally.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are many moments in the book that moved me - Olivia, Samuel, and Jamie's strong connection with Gunther (Thunder) from their past and in their present situation. Gunther became their "surrogate" father after their parents die, and Gunther was their parents' surrogate father. The joy and loyalty that Olivia and her brothers have with and for each other. Olivia and Ethan's budding romance.

Any additional comments?

The story depicts courage, kindness, trust, and intelligence in a captivating way. There is adventure, excitement, comedy, drama, fantasy, and tenderness throughout the book. The battle between good and evil threads its way through the book and the reader can understand the value of friendship and the bravery needed by the characters. I would recommend this book to readers of all ages. Thank you Hannah Sullivan and Melissa Chatwood for an excellent story!
