Publisher's summary

When a man arrives at the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency, anxious to hire them to find a missing heiress, Eunice Holbrooke realizes her past has finally caught up with her...and that she may no longer be able to hide under the disguise that has kept her safe for so long.

Arthur Livingston's goal in life is to make his mark on the world as a mining industrialist, but after the man who could help him achieve his goal is murdered, Arthur feels compelled to seek justice for the family - but he's left with more questions than answers after the eccentric Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency refuses to take on his case.

Desperate to conceal her real identity and avoid the irritatingly handsome Arthur, Eunice takes on a different case that requires her to go deep undercover and entangles her in one troublesome situation after another. When other secrets come to light, Eunice has no choice but to confront her past, hopeful that it will set her free but knowing it could very well place her life - and the lives of those she loves - in jeopardy.

"Considering she'd shot the man..."

Such a great first line! I was drawn in from the moment I pressed ▶️
I listened and/or read all day. There are so many memorable moments, I can't possibly pick a favorite. I love the quick dialogue, the crazy situations, and the way the ladies (and gentlemen) of The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency care about each other.
I enjoyed this last book in the series very much. Though each book is a stand alone story, I'm looking forward to binge listening to them all in a row.
I love the humor Jen Turano weaves into her stories.

A very sweet ending to this series

I liked this story. It had a lot of interesting twists and turns. Laughter, and Awwww moments. The last few min wrapped up the whole series with a nice bow. I’m glad I finished the series after all :)

Woke crap

This is the most woke book I have ever read. It is incredibly obnoxious and contradictory.

Forced Romance

I feel like the author took a “recipe” for a romance and just threw all the ingredients in without connecting them in a way that wasn’t obvious. It didn’t help that the narration felt a little robotic.

Needs LOTS of editing

This is one of those books that wanders around for so long that you begin to forget the elements in the 1st part of the book. At the bone structure, the story plot is good, even interesting. The problem is there is waaaay too much information and way too little romance. There are too many ideas thrown into a murky soup. The book lacks direction and, like the previous book, introduces too many characters. If I hadn't read book 2, I would be right back to ferling confused and overwhelmed by the vast number of names bandiedabout. The MMC is very likable. The FMC eventually grew on me, but there are just too many filler and sub stories going on. The romance between the MCs is and afterthought just sprinkled in minimally.
I am very surprised by the writing quality of this series, as it is not as good as JTs previous books. In the past, this author's books were exceptional, concise, and well researched, but these books feel like a hogpog of ideas not quite ready for release, i.e., in need of extensive editing. The poor choice of a narrator just emphasizes the books flaws.
