Publisher's summary

“So many people have written and claimed that their families were the original of the Forsytes,” wrote Galsworthy, “that one has almost been encouraged to believe in the typicality of an imagine species.” It is the Spring of 1920, 34 years on from the beginning of the Saga. “Young Jolyon” is married to Irene after her divorce from Soames, and they now have a son, Jon. Soames has re-married and has a daughter, Fleur. A new generation of Forsytes comes of age and the Saga continues.

Mispronounces name of the main heroine throughout

What made the experience of listening to To Let the most enjoyable?

Narrator has a pleasing voice when interpreting the voices. Story moves forward quickly.

What did you like best about this story?

Having listened to the earlier two volumes, it was great to be able to continue. And to enter into the lives of the younger Forsytes.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Neil Hunt?

Yes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

See one of my reactions in the comments below.

Any additional comments?

Listened to the excellent narration of Martin Jarvis for the first two volumes and chose this narrator when there didn't appear to be a Jarvis reading for volume three. Listeners should note that this narrator keeps mispronouncing the name of the female lead throughout. Faithful readers of Galsworthy or viewers of both TV versions of THE FORSYTE SAGA know that her name --"Irene" -- is pronounced "I-REE-NEE," NOT "I-REEN." It is quite jarring to have this narrator make the error over and over again. And it distracts from an otherwise lovely interpretation of the novel.
