Publisher's summary

An unpredictable journey with unforeseen consequences…

On Gotland Sidroc wakes from a disturbing dream; one of his sons, Hrald or Yrling–perhaps both–are in trouble. Both are in far-off Angle-land, and beyond his reach.

Eskil the Svear sails to the island, offering Sidroc a rare opportunity to gain untold riches, with equal risk to life for those joining the venture.

Edwin, Lord of Kilton, returns empty-handed from his search for a bride, while his brother Ceric knows true delight with his young wife Dwynwen, the Princess of Ceredigion. A royal commission sends the wedded pair off as envoys of King Ælfred, bringing Ceric face to face with his family’s past.

At Four Stones a troubled Jarl Hrald maintains leadership of men and lands, while questioning his resolve to move forward in his life.

Hrald’s sister Ealhswith, rejected by Edwin as a potential bride, returns to Four Stones. Yet there she finds little to assuage the restiveness and dissatisfaction she finds in her young life.

Lady Pega is called to her powerful former guardian, Lady Æthelflaed. A joyous occasion is expected, but the result is a discovery her royal guardian never anticipated.

As suddenly as game pieces topple on a board, lives are changed–forever.

Cant get enough of this saga!!

I love this saga by Octavia Randolph. The details that she gives in every aspect of the lives of the characters adds so much more to the reading (listening gor me). This period of history is so rich. The characters are wonderful and the author gives them depth…even to the lesser characters. I appreciate that she has a fb forum page for discussion of the series. If I was going to discuss dislike for any part, it is that no matter how many numerous hours the book is, it’s too short! I am greedy for more. Thank you Ms Randolph for this amazing saga and for your wonderful narrator Nano Nagle.

Phenomenal

I love this series so very much and this chapter in the lives of all the characters is so moving. The emotions are so carefully wrought and Nagle’s performance is exquisite! I will be anxiously awaiting the next!

the details

I enjoyed the plot and not being able to know what comes next. the flaws in some of the characters makes them more believable.

I loved the whole series

I feel the travel to the far east took up more of book 11 than I would have liked and Hrald's tale was surprising to say the least.
I love the series 5 stars as a whole.

Compelling

I have loved this series from the first book. Some volumes were better than others, but the saga itself is at the top of my list of favorites. So much has happened since the beginning, and I know at some point, I will enjoy it all again. This story seems like a set up for the next, which promises to be huge. The trading trip was agony, and they had not even arrived at their destination. Lots of loose ends that need resolve. Octavia is a wonderful writer. I have learned much from her concerning a time and place in history that isn’t much covered elsewhere. Like many of her readers, I am fascinated and go off on my own journey to expand upon the tidbits of learning she tosses out like birdseed. Nano Nagle is a warrior of narration. Together these two women have created something quite special.

Awesome as Always!

To the Sun is another fantastic addition to not only my all time favorite series, but my all time favorite story. Octavia Randolph is such an incredible author that her writing goes beyond story telling. Her writing is a work of art. Octavia paints such vivid descriptions that encompass all of the senses transporting one to Europe in the Middle Ages. I actually feel as though I’m there watching the story play out as a bystander!

Every book within The Circle of Ceridwen saga is a masterpiece and To the Sun is no exception. I was thrilled to hear there will be more books to come.

In general a great series.

In general a great series, with characters that you will love and want to follow along with. This book, however, isn’t a great as the other books. Over 1/2 of this book is about side characters on a long journey.
