About this listen

Jack Ryan, Jr. is out to avenge the murder of an old friend, but the vein of evil he's tapped into may run too deep for him to handle in the latest electric entry in the number one New York Times best-selling series.

While on vacation in Barcelona, Jack Ryan, Jr. is surprised to run into an old friend at a small café. A first, Renee Moore seems surprised to see Jack, but then she just seems irritated and distracted. After making plans to meet later, Jack leaves, only to miss the opportunity to ever speak to Renee again, as the café is destroyed minutes later by a suicide bomber. A desperate Jack plunges back into the ruins to save his friend, but it's too late. As she dies in his arms, she utters one word, Sammler.

When the police show up, they are initially suspicious of Jack until they are called off by a member of the Spanish Intelligence Service. This mysterious sequence of events sends the young Campus operative on an unrelenting search to find out the reason behind Renee's death. Along the way, he discovers that his old friend had secrets of her own - and some of them may have gotten her killed.

Jack has never backed down from a challenge, but some prey may be too big for one man.

This series is on its last legs.

While the usual good performance by the narrator, the series has become increasingly formulaic. Good technical detail remains a strong point but the rah-rah over the top jingoism is increasingly difficult to overlook. I will give the series one more new offering before calling it quits.

Outstanding

Another outstanding book in this exciting series. This book seemed a little short compared to others. The rabbit hole wasn’t as deep as some earlier books but still great. So other than being too short I have nothing to complain about. The Ryan universe is always entertaining and enjoyable. I highly recommend. I can’t wait till the next installment so please hurry. Thank you.

Another Awesome Jack Jr Book

This is one of the better Jack Ryan Jr books. Full of action and suspense. Scott Brick does another amazing job of narration. I’m already looking forward to the next book!

not as good as I hoped

so I really don't like the lone wolf jack Jr stories . I like when the entire team is out doing things together. hope the stories get better more campus action.

Well done!

Always enjoy authors that willing to give shouts out to their peers, no matter how veiled, when developing a story.
I always look forward to the Ryan novels, and want to thank the Clancy family for letting them continue.
I’m not sure about anyone else, but I’m glad to see Gavin getting out of the office again.
Mr Clancy briefly brought my hometown of Knoxville into Debt of Honor, and we appreciate Mr. Maden bringing her back into public view. Myrtles is struggling, but the chicken is still first rate.

Great performance but story was meh.

Scott Brick was incredible as usual. As for the story, that’s a different matter. It starts off real strong but gets rushed towards the end and some things don’t make enough sense. It was enough to power through it but to many unrealistic responses to some events made it a little to cliche.

How is a good one!

These always start a little slowly, but really accelerate to exciting fun! Scott Brick always does a great job narrating and I look forward to it as many of these as I can listen to as possible. Mike Maden a great job writing this one and it’s really mostly about Jack Junior, which is great.
