About this listen

No limits. No rules. No mercy. Can one man take down an entire drug cartel?

Former Army Ranger Pierce Hunt is second-guessing his decision to join a CIA hunter-killer team that will take him far away from his daughter. But when a new performance-enhancing drug kills four football players - including his daughter’s boyfriend - settling down becomes the last thing on Hunt’s mind.

When Anna Garcia, Hunt’s lover and head of the largest drug cartel in Miami, becomes the prime suspect in the investigation, the stakes become even more personal. Not convinced that Anna is capable of such extremes, Hunt looks far and wide for evidence to exonerate her and stop a vicious enemy who plans to flood the US market with an addictive new drug. Outgunned, outmanned, and out of time, Hunt is the country’s last hope to stop a deadly new drug from making countless new victims.

CIA Hunt

Had to get PH into a more globally important org to take advantage of his ability to influence critical outcomes. Very nice. Anticipate plot shift to maintain Anna's position as his principal partner. Carter character needs some.filling out. Love the direction Pierce is heading in

Not as good as the first book but still a good listen

This second book felt a lot like a transition book. Like it was setting up the next book and developing the characters further. It was interesting but less intriguing than book one. I suspect that if you skip this book the next books will have a lot of missing parts. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it and it was still engaging, just more ‘factual’ based like we need to know who all the players are a more about how they fit for the next books.

Tries too hard

I don’t know. Pierce Hunt is cool and all, but the stories seem very unoriginal. Obviously, the author has visions of grandeur a la Daniel Silva and Brad Thor, but I don’t think his story telling is there yet. His scenes aren’t vivid enough and Pierce is heroic, but not in an off the chain-grab my attention-can’t stop listening-way. Book 1 was better, but book 2 (this one) went the wrong direction. Give it a shot though. You may disagree with me....

Fantastic book!!!!

This sequel with Pierce Hunt flowed seamlessly from the first book and ended perfectly leading to the next installment. It was a bit brutal a few times and I hope that kind of violence is truly fiction and never happens in the real world. With that being said I liked the plot and the characters. I listened to this book in one day- just couldn’t get put it down!

Action packed!

This is the second book in the Pierce Hunt series. Can be listened to as a stand alone but I would suggest listening to Hunt them Down first. This is a really good series and if you like procedurals than they’re worth listening to in order.
Very shortly after Hunt leaves on a joint CIA/DEA mission his girlfriend is targeted by people on her own organization. Becoming the default head of her family’s drug cartel, Anna wants to go ligit, members of her organization are opposed. Meanwhile, athletes are dying from amphetamines being sold by them. She’s getting the blame.
The mission Pierce is on is tied to this but neither is aware what the other is involved in.
Bon Shaw aka R C Bray does an outstanding job as always.

Excellent!

I really loved it! I am actually tired of all the other books chasing terrorists, and this is such a pleasant change, but still with the drama and plots. The insight into the drug world is scary, as I don't really know what a huge problem it is. Pierce Hunt has developed nicely and I am looking forward to the next one!
The narrator was great!

Definitely a great follow up!

There were some seriously intense moments! Edge of your seat! And I loved the new different POV style.
