About this listen

Book 7 in The Long War series from the master of historical fiction, Christian Cameron

When the dust settled and the blood dried after the Battle of Plataea, Greeks might have thought that their freedom was secured. But before the corpse of the Great King's general was cold, Athens and Sparta began to bicker over dividing up the spoils.

After an autumn of victory, it's a long cold winter among the burned cities and destroyed shrines of Greece, and a hungry spring. And when Arimnestos goes to sea to cruise the Persian-held coasts, he finds that Persia is still not beaten... and that old alliances are now fraying.

Is the impossible true? Would the Spartans rather see Athens destroyed than Persia defeated? And who will save the cities of Ionia from the Great King's wrath?

It's the spring of 478BCE, and the Long War isn't over yet.

Christian Cameron, aka Miles Cameron, is The Master of historical martial fiction.
Treason of Sparta is the first book of a new trilogy in the Long War series. It’s an adventurous story re why and how the Greek alliance was forced to go on the offensive against Persia. Quite simply, it’s an outstanding listen — The plot, writing. character development/world-building, and narration — 5-Stars across the board.
If you enjoy historical fiction, historical naval fiction in particular, then I highly recommend The Treason of Sparta. and the entire Long War series, and all of Cameron’s other fine novels for that matter.
Hopefully, The Longest Journey will be available soon…

Cameron’s Long War series is my favorite historical fiction by a long shot. I had no idea a new book was coming and am so pleased that Ari’s story continues.

Treason has a few problems—it isn’t as focused as other books in the series and the title of the book serves to drain tension for a plot that takes too long revealing itself. I’d put it at the bottom of the series with Poseidon’s Spear. This doesn’t mean it isn’t a good book, just not on the level of Marathon, or Salamis, which are my favorite in the series. Still worth the credit and time spent with wonderful characters in a fascinating world!

Good to have Arimnestos back!

I can’t get enough of Arimnestos and his adventures. Bless you, Christian Cameron, for bringing the ancient world to startlingly beautiful life.

Brilliant renewal of an all-time favorite

The only problem I had with the book was they mixed up Bolus and Spartius. Bolus was the one who didn't talk much and died Spartius was the one with no front teeth and talked alot.

Amazing!!!!

I didn't expect Cameron to revisit this series, this my be my favorite from the lot of them. Which is particularly great as I really don't care for his new (Bronze) series, its good to see he hasn't lost his touch.

Pleasant surprise
