Young Hero Coming of Age kind of book

This book was great! You have a mysterious hero who is coming of age and joins a crew to make his way to the great heathen army. It has daring adventures, friendships, enemies and a love story. This book will get your blood pumping!

Great story line and characters. The entire series is awesome and I would highly recommend it if you like Vikings and shield walls.

There is never a long lull without some sort of adventure or action. Enough details to set the scene without bogging down like some of the other stories I’ve read/listened to.

Very similar style to Bernard Cornewell’s Saxon Series.

I really like this series and starting the 5th book now.

Difficult to listen to

Loved the story. The monotone reading by Jordan ruined it for me. Not sure I will purchase additional volumes

Not a bad story, but really sub par narration.

The story was not bad, and was relatively entertaining but the reader was almost like a computer. Kind of a shame as it could be so much better!

Great Book and Good Narration Accents

This book is a must read if you are into anything to do with Vikings. It is violent and glorious. The combat isn't it's only striking point however, the characters are gritty and real, and the narrator gives them each such life. There are references to the Norse gods and goddesses as well as their feats throughout the book. It is a great beginning to an even greater saga.

I like the lead character who began with dogs name

visceral, believable characters and circumstances. Great character development and a little romance thrown in for good measure.

More please!

Great start to a saga! Interesting characters not only skilled in battle but loaded with baggage that can help weave depth, conflict, pain and triumph to any Viking raid. Narrator was flat and monotone at times but had good character voices and heaviness when needed but lacked lightness and range.
