Publisher's summary

Attorney Wren Bishop knew it would be an adjustment to go from her cushy, lucrative career in big law to the public defender’s office, but she’s completely unprepared for the suspicion from her colleagues and the animus from her adversaries at what was billed as a close-knit courthouse. To top it off, her first case pits her against Lennox Roy, a gorgeous yet fierce prosecutor with a reputation for cajoling juries and breaking hearts.

Lennox comes from a family full of bleeding hearts who believe in second, third, and fourth chances, but she’s seen firsthand the damage leniency can do. She has no patience for a softy like Wren Bishop, no matter how sexy and brilliant she might be. But when they face off over a mysterious arson case, their attraction ignites a passion that leads them to question their assumptions about the law, the truth, and each other.

Good but rushed

I enjoyed this book overall. The characters were somewhat interesting and the plot solid. There was room for character development tho. I would have liked a deeper background for more insight into who they were. The falling in love portion felt so rushed. One min, they want each other and have each other, then conflict, and then bam 2 very short chapters later they're making declarations...what about all the in-between. It was a nice build up but then a cliff for the ending.

A Burning Desire

Wren Bishop is a great lawyer happy to a stint at the Public Defender’s Office in Dallas, Tx. She not prepared for the hostility of the “close family of the court house.” Lennox Roy is a hard charging prosecutor in the DA’s office who gives her all to putting away every single case she prosecutes. Two strong passionate women meet in the court and their lives. Will they get past their differences? Authentic courtroom drama and mystery.

compelling story

loved it ,Carsen always seems to capture a compelling story of attorneys at work and play. I love the underlying riches meets a poor client and an opposing dedicated if not misled attorney.

Just like all her books this was excellent

For court room drama and love Carson Taite is the one to write it. I could see the TV show made from her books…
I usually love AJ Ferraro, but I don’t think she was the right narrator for this book, she has a wonderful soft voice and a cute lisps and neither MC were “cute” they were strong assertive women…
All in all I loved this book.

Good enough

I like AJ Ferraro, but this narrator is not for a Carsen Taite story. It just didn’t connect with me and this narrator.

Trial

This has to be my least favorite book that Carswn has written. I've listened to FOUR hours of dry lawyer speak, no action. The narrator did not help. Her narration was flat, very little difference between characters. I'm sad to say I could not finish the book. I hope the next book has more to it.
