Publisher's summary

"Triplanetary" is a science fiction novel and space opera by author E. E. Smith, published in 1948. It consists of two parts.

The first explains the series background, which consists of a conflict between the evil Eddorians and the benevolent Arisians. This conflict is carried out throughout the history of an oblivious humankind on Earth.

The final part of the book, which was originally published as a magazine story, takes up the tale after civilization has been rebuilt with the covert help of the Arisians; but with everything still at risk... Enjoy the fascinating beginnings of a space opera of the most epic proportions in sci-fi history!

Doesn’t hold up as well as some in the “test of time” . . . 😱

A favorite of mine when pre-teen in the late 1950s and early 1960s . . . and I looked forward to this reread (re-listen) . . . but I nearly quit several times and ended up settling for listening at 1.2 x normal speed and could only listen in shorter sessions than my usual. Why? Almost really a YA book especially in its treatment of sexual relationships which was one of weeks/months of a non-sexual male/female attraction to each other that was described as love but what we would now recognize as limerence. Just got corny. Not a recommended listen unless you just want to go there knowing there are much better ways to spend hour listening time. . . . . . . . . . 😱

————————————————————————————————————————
5 stars is great (I rarely give this rating).
4 stars is good (given only to interesting and well-written books).
3 stars is OK (the usual listen I encounter on Audible).
2 stars is poor (and not worth the credit or the listen).
1 star is awful (and to be diss'ed and shunned and spread as thus through out the Audible Universe)!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 😱
