About this listen

Spring has sprung in Lake Eden, Minnesota, but Hannah Swensen doesn’t have time to stop and smell the roses - not with hot cross buns to make, treats to bake, and a sister to exonerate!

Hannah’s up to her ears with Easter orders rushing in at The Cookie Jar, plus a festive meal to prepare for a dinner party at her mother’s penthouse. But everything comes crashing to a halt when Hannah receives a panicked call from her sister Andrea - Mayor Richard Bascomb has been murdered...and Andrea is the prime suspect.

Even with his reputation for being a bully, Mayor Bascomb - or “Ricky Ticky”, as Hannah’s mother likes to call him - had been unusually testy in the days leading up to his death, leaving Hannah to wonder if he knew he was in danger. Meanwhile, folks with a motive for mayoral murder are popping up in Lake Eden. Was it a beleaguered colleague? A political rival? A jealous wife? Or a scorned mistress?

As orders pile up at The Cookie Jar - and children line up for Easter egg hunts - Hannah must spring into investigation mode and identify the real killer...before another murder happens!

The Housework Helper

These books are wonderfully humourous along side the who-done-it! I listen while I clean house and it makes tedious jobs fly through my fingers as well as freshening up my dinner and dessert offerings! Though I don't drink coffee I eat a lot of these chocolate delights with my glass of milk and EVERYONE wants to live here!❤️

Overall a good book

Overall, I enjoyed this book. But the internal mental arguments were a little much. Is Hannah going mad? Also, in some of the chapters, it seemed that the recipe at the end, was longer than the story content.
I have enjoyed this series and I am hoping that the next book has less of Hannah’s 2 voices in her head, and more growth in her relationship with Norman.

A very good Cozy Type Mystery

I enjoy this series when I need a humorous, who-done-it without the gruesome details, harsh language, and sexual details. I’m not sure why I skipped ahead in this series. There are a few questions that I have about what was being talked about but I’ll catch up with it. In other words, this one is not a stand alone.

Anticipation disappointment

I await each one of these books to come out because the Character build has been so great you can’t wait to find out what’s going on with everyone but the banter overtook ever chapter and so much inner self I was losing interest and I couldn’t believe that , I’m still glad I used a credit to purchase overall .

It was ok.

My biggest problem with the audio versions of the Hannah Swenson books is that the recipes at the end of each chapter are read aloud. It is completely unnecessary and annoying.

Enjoyable mystery with fabulous recipes

I enjoyed Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Murder. Entertaining. I enjoyed listening and can’t wait to try some of these recipes. They sound delicious. The narrator did a great job and it was easy to listen to and follow.

Andrea a suspect!

Andrea has a big flap with the Mayor. Bill arrested his nephew for drunk driving and the Mayor pressured Bill to drop the charges and made his life miserable when Bill had integrity. Andrea lost her cool & socked the Mayor, toppling him over in his chair! Later she leaves a family dinner, taking a big hunk of chocolate cheesecake with her to appease the Mayor. But finds him dead. And the person who finds the body is always a suspect -- really? Hannah has found scores & was a suspect only once or twice...!
It's more than a little unbelievable how Mike cooperates with Hannah for once, but once again Hannah figures it all out...

Hannah is going crazy

What is with Hannah's inner dialogue? The constant rational side vs suspicious side thing was tolerable when it was only occasionally. Now its at least once a chapter, referring to herself in the third person and takes up a quarter of the chapter. The chapter break down is 1/4th Hannah thinking in the third person, 1/4th to 1/8th actually story, 1/2 to 1/3rd recipe walkthrough.
Story was a bit more back to original Hannah story despite that breakdown. Wish she would just pick Norman or move out of his house. She's been coming off as selfish since she turned down both marriage proposals from Mike and Norman and dragging it out for years (or months depending on the inconsistency of the story plot lines). She at least only seemed to have a friend type relationship with Mike in this book and referred to only Norman as her boyfriend. So, progress. There's only so much will she wont she that is tolerable and that was passed a long time ago.

not her best work

I got a little bit annoyed with the rational mind and the suspicious mind volleys - there was a lot of them. the storyline was good - the execution not so much. Also, while I like the recipes, it seemed like there were two with every chapter. I felt like there was a lot of "filler" in this book.
