Publisher's summary

Jesse Kellerman's debut thriller wowed the critics. His latest sets the bar even higher.

Young, idealistic, and overworked, Jonah is living the lonely life of a medical student in New York City when he accidentally stumbles across a murder in progress: a woman, being stabbed to death in the middle of the sidewalk. Without thinking, he rushes in to protect her, inadvertently killing her attacker in the process.

Thrust into the media spotlight, crushed by guilt, Jonah quickly learns that heroism isn't all it's cracked up to be. He receives a shower of unwanted attention and hostility from his superiors. The district attorney wants to "interview" him. The family of the dead man wants revenge.

Everything is further upended when the woman whose life he saved shows up at his apartment. What begins as a thank-you drink turns into a wildly passionate love affair. As their relationship deepens, however, Jonah realizes that she isn't quite the woman she appears to be. His nightmare has only begun, and the price of kindness will turn out to be higher than he could have imagined.

Expertly crafted and chillingly suspenseful, Trouble is a heart-stopper - proof positive that Jesse Kellerman has joined the "first ranks of mystery and suspense writers" (Forbes).

Save your time

I consider Scott Brick to be the best reader of nearly every genre, but even he couldn't save this travesty. Endless, quite unnecessary description marred the writing from beginning to end. This story, which was totally unbvelievable, would have been a poor short story and was a horrible, waste-of-time novel. Save your money and your time.

Was on the edge of my seat til the very end!

Unlike his debut piece of garbage ("Sunstroke"), "Trouble" is an excellent book.

The characters really come to life and the story was very suspenseful and even gave me bad dreams (a good sign for me that the book was entertaining me).

In this story, writer Jesse Kellerman is a Robin Cook meets Dean Koontz meets Stephen King. Very compelling, convincing, and intellectual characters.

A nice variety of genres, including medicine, sociology, psychology, and horror.

Not sure why other Audible readers gave it poor reviews, but if Kellerman keeps producing books like "Trouble" and stays clear of poor writing like "Sunstroke," he will become a huge success!

Too realistic for me.

This whole thing was too possible and too disturbing for me. It was not a good follow-up to "Me & Emma." After reading the first half, I was getting in such a bad mood that I finally skipped to the end. I guess that the fact that it disturbed me so much means that it was well done. BTW, this should be classified as "horror" and not as "psych suspense."

Too Long

Needed editing. Keep repeating same behavior and I guess it was building suspense but for me it was getting tiring. First book I did not finish listening to. I have been hooked an audible books for over 5 years. Listen to about 3 a month. So for me not to finish is very unusual.

endless

I kept skipping forward to try to find something interesting in this audiobook. I hated the graphic sex and the awful violence. I also had a hard time sympathizing with a man who would attack a woman, regardless of the provocation. I just can't enjoy a book when I am repulsed by the main character! I really couldn't find anything at all to like about him.

Pointless, endless, dreary ... don't trouble yourself! I'll hesitate before I get any more audiobooks by this author.

I had TROUBLE listening!

I LOVE Scott Brick and that is the one reason I got this book but not even Scott could help this one. I couldn't listen to the whole thing and I fast forwarded to the end. Even though I fast forwarded I felt I hadn't missed a thing.

Don't trouble yourself

Terrible manipulative book that even Scott Brick can't save. Some funny stuff about being a medical student can't overcome the overwrought sexual encounters and contrived plot.
Don't bother

Did not even down load the second half

I bought this book because I am a big fan of the authors father and mother, I was hoping for similar content. People who like this type of fiction might like it but I was looking for mysteries not graphic psychological horror.

Disappointing

It sounded interesting and it had my favorite reader Scott Brick but I could not make it through the entire book. I quite at the close of book 1. I became more uncomfortable the longer I listened. The sexual violence described is not for everyone. It became torture to continue listening.
