About this listen

Exciting start of a brand-new series by a contemporary romance fan favorite.

After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.

Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100% focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.

The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

Trials, Heartbreak and True Romance

I have loved everything that Becky Wade has written - everything. But I was a bit hesitant with this one initially to be honest. I added it to my "currently reading" list but then actually put off starting it for several weeks as I finished up another series I had begun.

However once I started reading it I was pulled into the story and, the more I read and the better acquainted I became with the rather "quirky" Nora and her sisters Britt and Willow, the more I had to keep reading - almost non-stop. I liked John from the start but I soon grew to love everything about him.

But this story has a sad and very unexpected twist that took me completely by surprise. There are definitely trials and heartbreak in "True to You" and huge challenges that test the faith of our characters.

I loved this book and highly recommend it and look forward to the next release in The Bradford Sisters saga!

(The audiobook was also well narrated.)

The sweetness of God’s grace.

The narrator had a flat voice and a bit choppy. I liked the surprise turn of the story towards the end.

Great book

I loved this book. The narrator did a wonderful job. The characters were relatable and like-able. I love how Nora was portrayed as kind of mousy at the beginning and grew into a more confident person.
I would recommend this book to people that like cute fun clean God centered romance books.

Nora Finds A Champion.

Nora is the town librarian and owner of the historical village at the center of the towns life. When she participated in a hostage rescue exercise she meets a former Navy Seal who owns the business. Their journey is not an easy one but with God in their lives can they make it through the trails ahead. Great performance and story. Recommend.

Not Becky Wades best but good....

Tho written with Wades wonderful sense of humour- it was somewhat overshadowed by the narrator’s tendency to make Nora, the main character- sound like a pre-schooler. Just too light and ditzy. And I got tired of hearing the name “John! John!” “All she could think about- John!” Otherwise her true to form great writing and humor shone thru!

Another Wonderful Becky Wade “Homerun”!

While I love all of Becky Wades books, at first I wasn’t sure of “True to You”. I thought the main person, Nora , was a real ditzy person. I’m so glad that I read on to find the depth of her character. It is normal for God to allow obstacles to happen in our lives. They make us seek him and make us stronger in doing so.
John Lawson enters the story, and the story lines draw you into the humor, romance, and family dynamics of three sisters and the individual Faith and their personalities..
You know how when a coincidence happens and you say “It’s a small world”? When God’s plan unfolds his big picture is truly a small world.

I sure hope this will be anew series!

Favorite

This is my favorite of Becky Wade’s books. I’ve listened to this one numerous times and never grow tired of it. The narrator does such a great job of bringing Nora to life that it’s like listening to one of my dear friends. The story is powerful. Becky Wade’s romances always have impactful lessons tucked within, but she perfectly balances the deeper parts of the story with humor and grace (and of course, romance).

a different performer would have been better

I am a fan of Becky Wade's books. When I got a free trial for audible I grabbed this book and another one because I had wanted to read it ever since finishing the Porter Family series. Unfortunately the person who read the book kind of ruined it for me. Her voice was kind of robotic. And several of the character voices she did, for example the grandmother, were irritating. Like nails on a chalkboard. I wish I would have read this as a paper book in my own mind.
