Publisher's summary

Welcome to Moonlight Valley, Tennessee the secret paranormal sibling of Penny Reid's Green Valley and a small town where bearded werewolves outnumber the unsuspecting human inhabitants.

Twin brothers Atticus and Ford Boone may share the same face and the same supernatural secret, but where Atticus is charismatic and charming, Ford is grumpy and reserved and that's before he shifts into his wolf. When hardworking citizen scientist Alice Aymes reluctantly returns to Green Valley to restart her stalled life, she's sure she knows what to expect. She'll save up the money she needs to escape to Nashville while nursing her secret infatuation with the ever-popular Atticus Boone and fighting with her high school nemesis, his twin brother. Alice hates Ford, and he's always hated her right back. But after a case of mistaken identity has Alice kissing the wrong twin, she does what any good scientist does and analyzes the facts.

Fact #1: Its time to revisit her unrequited crush on Atticus. Who needs a white-knight fantasy man when there's a rock-solid, beaded lumberjack in your personal space?

Fact #2: Stimuli and sensory input ahoy! Growing up, Alice saw Ford as the grumpiest, sternest guy in town. They fought for years. Apparently that now sends her amygdalae into sensual overdrive.

Fact #3: The more bearded the wolf, the more protective and possessive.

As Alice finds herself irresistibly drawn to the man she loves to hate, the question lingers: How much of her level-headed heart is she willing to risk in the face of newfound desires and supernatural secrets?
Truth or Wolf, a Penny Reid Universe Reimagining, is a full-length paranormal romance, can be listened to as a standalone, and is book #1 in the Wolf Brothers series, Smartypants Romance Out of this World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

Fun!

This was a fun take on the already established Winston Brothers and Green Valley world. The addition of the shifters was entertaining and I’m totally here for it. As a huge lover of paranormal and fantasy, as well as Smartypants Romance, this was right up my alley. More please!

Also, Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley are brilliant! Two of my favorite narrators.

Basically just Truth of Beard with some Wolf stuff

This story would have been a fun, light read...except I had already read the story without having read the story. It is basically a retelling of Truth of Beard with some small variations. If I had not read that book, I probably would have enjoyed this one. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to starting this spin-off series.

Winston Brothers Reimagined

After moving back to Moonlight Valley, TN, all Alice Aymes wanted to do was get away from it again. She has big dreams of starting her own business but needs to raise the funds first so she’s stuck back in her hometown. Alice has had a crush on Atticus Boone for as long as she can remember, in spite of his grumpy twin Ford (who always seems to get in the way). When she finally thinks she has a shot with Atticus, nothing is as it appears and she has her eyes opened to a whole other side of Moonlight Valley.

Truth or Wolf is the first book in the Wolf Brothers series. This a paranormal retelling of Penny Reid’s Truth or Beard. Truth or Wolf can be read as a stand-alone and you do not need prior knowledge of the Winston Brothers series.

Anne Marsh has done a fantastic job of retaining the overall flavor and plot points of the original story while infusing it with plenty of fun new twists. I do like that the story is set in its own fictitious town of Moonlight Valley rather than Green Valley. All of the scenes flowed well without anything seeming forced. The chemistry between Alice and Ford is undeniable from the very beginning.

I was truly unprepared for how much I was going to love this book. If you’ve never read a paranormal romance but you’re curious, this could be a great first option for you. If you love the Winston boys, I think you’ll fall just as hard for the Boone brothers.

I highly recommend listening to the audiobook. The incomparable Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley are back to voice all of Moonlight Valley. No one else could have brought this reimagining to life.

This is the first book that I have read from author Anne Marsh and it definitely will not be the last. I plan to check out her whole backlist while I “patiently'' wait for Wolf Brothers book 2.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. I purchased a copy of the audiobook separately. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

THE BEST REIMAGINED MASH UP EVER

There are no words to describe how happy I am for this! My favorite writers INSPIRED BY my favorite writers! this reimagining of the precious Winston brothers with supernatural influences from Molly Harper, Juliette Cross, and others checks ALL of the boxes and then some! There's an unexpected and hilariously charming twist toward the end and it made me love it EVEN more. I'm SO excited about this and will be waiting with bated breath for the rest of the series!

It's a cute story but all too familiar...

As I listened to the story unfolding, there was a haunting feeling of familiarity. Some previously enjoyed story had a plot line so similar that I was afraid I had mistakenly purchased the same book again. Then, the familiarity crystalized. In place of Boone brothers, say Winston brothers. Throw in twins (Beau and Duane) refusing the evil Iron Wraiths offer to run their chop shop, thicken the plot with the missing Winston brother (Jethro)... and have "weird-genius" brother Cletus save the day with his techno-wizardry. It was all too familiar, possibly a wasted credit.
To be clear, I would listen to Chris Brinkley read a wall street journal classified section. Chris is the only reason I completed this book.

Zero for originality

There should be a disclaimer that this is exactly the same story line as the first book of the Winston brothers. From the twins, to the courtship, to the family plot twist, there are minimal differences (if any) and it feels very manipulative to have people pay/use a credit for this book when it’s the same as a previous book. If you haven’t read the Winston brothers, go for it.

The lesser "Truth or Beard"

Yes the description said it was reimagining of a Penny Reid... I should have known better. I just miss Green Valley when I've run out of books... no more Moonlight Valley for me. If instead of renaming the characters and changing things just enough that it's NOT Penny's people, they'd spun it with the real Penny characters, in the super natural untold secret story ala Pride and Prejudice and Zombies ~ maybe.

The only reason I didn't ask for a refund is Chris Brinkley and Joy Nash - LOVE THEM. But even they couldn't get me all the way through this book.

Nope! Nope! Nope!
