About this listen

She was the woman he was going to marry....

A man shoots his young wife to death. He drives to a freeway overpass, gets out, shoots himself, and drops 100 feet to the freeway below, crushing a Toyota Camry. Inside is an elementary school teacher named Jacqueline Dwyer, who dies at the scene.

Ty Buchanan is a hotshot lawyer. Jacqueline Dwyer was the woman he was going to marry.

Ty goes into a tailspin. And it gets worse when a mysterious man finds him at the funeral and says Jacqueline's death may not have been an accident after all. In fact she may have been murdered.

Now Ty Buchanan will risk everything, including his skyrocketing career, to find out what really happened to the only woman he ever truly loved. That is if he can stay alive - because someone out there does not want him to know the truth.

From the high-rises of the city's most powerful law firms to the mean streets of gangland LA, Try Dying is a blistering thrill ride in the finest tradition of modern noir.

James Scott Bell, tells an interesting story, but it seems to take him a long, long, long time to get it done. There is lot of mystery, action, and plenty of thrills to keep anyone happy.

Try Dying

I wasn't as impressed by the actual book as I was the description. There was action and thrill, but it was few and far between. Not the worst book, but I would have a hard time reading more by this author. Having said that, I almost wonder if it had been read by a more animated narrator if it would have kept my attention more. The narrator was almost monotone and boring.

Try dying

If you could sum up Try Dying in three words, what would they be?

I was hooked after reading the first chapter Ty Buchanan tries to figure out why his fiancee was killed--was it really a freak accident or something more? Very suspenseful novel.

Good mystery, kept me involved.

This is a story of a young lawyer whose fiancé is killed in a crazy accident that leaves him with some suspicions. I enjoyed the story, but there are a lot of characters in this book, and at times I had a little difficulty sorting them out. The book is fairly linear which makes it easier to track the main character and the more profound sub characters around him. Overall the story is very interesting, it has a lot of twists and turns and an interesting ending.

The narrator does a very good job with the story, he varies the voices enough that it assists in keeping track of who is who, but also gives the characters some personality.

Overall this story is definitely worth listening to it kept me interested and engaged the entire time, I never found myself drifting away from this book as I do others.

This book was provided to me at no cost by the author for a fair and impartial review.

Good Thriller

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, good murder mystery and the narrator does what good storytellers do; so catch you up in the story you forget the individual parts.

What about Basil Sands’s performance did you like?

The wonderful way he portrays each of his characters.

Any additional comments?

I'd listen to any of Basil Sands narrating murder mysteries.
