If you Like Stephen King, and Mark Twain

This book feels as if a young Stephen King, Cormac McCarthy and Mark Twain had sat down and worked together on a book. For all of its pros and cons - this book genuinely feels like that.

If you like those authors - you'll really enjoy this novel.

Excellent !!!

I have been a lover of fiction since 1961, I was age 10. I especially love what I call "imaginative fiction", which could be a thriller, or horror, or any story where there are no boundaries, the author's imagination is the only limit.
This story is one of these, extremely well written. I will use a stereotypical word, "gripped". This story gripped me.
It takes alot to do that for me, as I am jaded. The author and the narrator are absolutely excellent and I give them both a
"10".

couldn't stop listening

If Mark Twain was a dark soul this would be his style. I loved this story from beginning to end and could not let it go... The narrator is superior in defining each character with his/her own personality down to specific cadences and inflections, what you always hope for, but almost never get. The story is a veritable depiction of the parts detailed and makes you believe they must be real people. If you love a thriller where the good and bad guys are equally dynamic this is it.

A few books entitled "Twilight"

This one is the better one. Pretty creepy story if that's what you're looking for, with a great use of language -- even disturbingly funny in parts. The teenage vampire book "Twilight" is a lot of fun though, if you're looking for a quick reality escape.

Southern Style

Nice job creating 'southern style' characters. The bad guy was really bad (grin) and the good guy was only a little bad. Entertaining

Southern classic

A well balanced southern gothic tale. Listened at 1.1x speed. Horrifying but not overly gruesome. Tragedy that’s makes you think the story can’t go on. It’s a wild ride.

Takes Time

I didnt get into this book at first but I kept at it. After about the first hour it grabs you. The charactors are quirky with dark humor. Very enjoyable if you stick with it.

Good Book - Good Narrator

This book is good. Not great but good. Enjoyed the last section of the book the most - a long, sometimes too long, chase scene between two main characters. The beginning has some perverse story line in it. The narrator does a good job.

You can tell the author grew up there.

It's like a fantasy in this real world. Wonderful story and the flow carries you effortlessly. I swear I met some of the old men while sitting outside an old gas station with my grandfather drinking Pepsi in Peppertown Mississippi. Best narrator I've heard so far.
