Publisher's summary

Iris Adams can't dance.

She can act. She can hike the Appalachian Trail. She can resist every carb known to womankind. She can make people laugh.

But she has no moves. Not even one.

Her lack of rhythm has never been an issue until she gets the chance to take her TV show to the big screen. The movie is sure to make her a household name - if she can just nail the Cajun dance scene.

Beau Landry is a minimalist. He doesn't even own a TV.

A South Louisiana native, Beau's mission in life is to preserve his Cajun culture. The full-time French teacher and part-time dance instructor is only working with this Hollywood head case to help out his uncle.

It's not because she's beautiful even when she's embarrassing herself. It's not because she's as funny as she is kind. And it's definitely not because she just might need him as much as he needs her.

Good story, poor narration

The story is pretty decent, a bit more original than I expected. But the narration drove me crazy! Ok, I’m not sure why exactly, perhaps it was too sharp or maybe too much a dialect.? It just kept me on edge and I hurried through the story.

A touching, layered romance

This story is one that checked all my boxes. I easily fell in love with the characters and related to their story as individuals, in ways didn’t know I needed to. Some of the themes hit hard but that’s what makes this great in my opinion. This is definitely one of the few listens that made me feel compelled to get a physical copy because the story just sticks with you. Aiden Snow ( I have a newfound interest in french prompted by your genius) the narrator you are!!! As the other reviews note the female voice actor has a jarring tone that personally I could only ignore when listening at 1.5 or higher but it’s WORTH IT.

Male narrator makes the listen worth while.

Sweet and fun storyline, but the female narrator was painfully A.I. sounding. I heard moments of potential and think perhaps she’s new at narration and just needs time and experience.

Story was okay

Sorry was okay, male narrator was amazing as always, but the female narrator ruined the story for me. She sounds very AI. I had to double check and make sure it wasn’t. I don’t like being negative so I’m going to look at this as constructive criticism, she could be really good with more practice.

Two Step

Male voice is strong and easy to listen to. Female voice sounds AI and most monitone. Story over all is enjoyable

Is stephanie Wyles a computer generated voice?

I really enjoyed this story, but the female narrator sounds computer generated. She read the book out loud without any emotion, inflection or acting talent. I did finish because I like the story but every time she read, it made me wince.

Great story - Jarring AI narration by female narrator

Stephanie Fournet is a wonderful storyteller. I recently discovered her and didn’t bother listening to a sample of this audio book before buying. Big mistake. The narrator Aiden Snow was fantastic. Stephanie Wyles voice sounded completely AI generated unless she was doing a male voice. It was jarring and almost painful to listen to. I will be sampling before buying any audiobooks from Amazon. If this is the future of audiobooks then it’s doomed! I’ll drop my subscription before subjecting myself to this again. Stephanie Fournet, if you can edit this audiobook, I’d do it now. Have Aiden Snow do the entire book - he’s that good! I’d give Aiden Snow 5 stars for performance and 0 to Stephanie Wyles. It sounds harsh, and I’m sure Stephanie Wyles voice is actually good if they didn’t put it through some sort of AI generator.

Listen to a sample before you buy.

enemies to friends trope with more unique storyline

Interesting story, narrators did not bother me as others have noted. Listening at 1.7 or 2.0 speed. Just sounded like female was enunciating for clarity a couple times, but not obnoxiously.

DNF due to female main character’s A.I.-like narration.

I really wanted to give this book a chance after hearing the female main character’s narration, but I couldn’t make it past chapter 7. It’s takes me out of the story. It’s so strange that when the dialogue is read, there’s inflection and emotion, but the rest of the lines are delivered so unnaturally cold and toneless. The male main character’s voice acting is enjoyable, though. The story was interesting, too, I’ll just have to pass on this audiobook version.

I do not enjoy leaving a bad review, but I don’t know how this is rated 5 stars and no one has mentioned this performance?
