About this listen

Grace Gushiken is a grifter and a liar. Worse, she's an esper, an abhorrent creation of the Old Empire, on the run from the Republic's justice. Nathan Chevell captains the free trader Tyche. He's no pirate, but he's no white knight either. There’s no business in helping strays.

Thrown together on a mission to the edge of space, they find the doomed planet Absalom Delta deserted, its people enslaved by the insect-like Ezeroc. The aliens have descended like locusts on humanity, consuming all in their path. No one is safe. Even the Republic Navy is powerless against them.

With nothing but an aging starship running low on luck, Grace and Nate clash against the might of an alien kingdom. The Ezeroc have arrived, and they are hungry.

Tyche’s Flight is the first book in Richard Parry’s gripping Ezeroc Wars series. If you like pause-resisting space opera with great dialogue and heart-pumping action, get your copy today!

Space Opera

A good read - smoothly written Space Opera, with some horror mixed in . Basically a ragtag crew trying to survive their too good to be true contract. While the setup is well written and the characters are nicely fleshed-out, you will recognize some popular tropes. Not to say they don't deserve to be used again but not as original as it could be. Lots of Gunplay and bodies everywhere. Moves smoothly along with lots of action and only occasional dragging points where people have to get reflective and feel sorry for themselves. (Does anybody else feel like authors are using people like they were raised in a vat just to die in combat with their trigger-happy protagonists?)

There are some rather annoying lapses of logic at a couple points but since I don't remember exactly what they were, they don't hinder the plot too much.

This is in the style of Firefly. Which was in the style of a western.( I stopped watching Firefly when they failed to use an spacecraft to see that men on horseback were waiting to ambush them on the ground. Here again are ample references to Civil War ala Johnny Rebel.)

Great character development. I read a lot of science-fiction and this is one of the best. Highly recommended!!!

This is a Great Romp

You better be working your ass off on the next book in this series Richard, I’m waiting. This story is a great romp of fun. I enjoyed listening to it. I enjoyed the characters and the story. The narration is done extremely well. I’ve listened to a lot of Audible books; this one is worth the listen.
