About this listen

A new world. A thousand threats. Welcome to The Continent.

Felix's life on Earth had become a series of dead-end jobs, ruined relationships, and rotating apartments smaller than most postage stamps. By all accounts, even his own, he was a coward. Too afraid to move forward, to take risks. Yet when given the chance to choose between risking his life or walking away from a deadly encounter, he didn't hesitate.

Moments before his untimely demise, Felix was snatched from earth and thrust into a magical world known only as "The Continent". Empowered by the "System", he learns that he can strengthen himself through combat and dedication. To survive, he'll have to push himself beyond his limits, or else fall to the monsters all around him.

Levels, stats, and magic. Death is the start of a terrible fate, but if he lives...no one knows what he will become.

It was good, it's just that every fight is a hair breadth and too long. When ever he dismisses item or skill or what ever for later, he always go back to discover what it was and uses it to win every fight. it's so frequent that you just roll your eyes when he picks something up..
Then there's the monologing. I'm sure I zoned out for an hour at the end.

Bit tough to finish.

This book hits almost every box. It has an actual story line that is engrossing. The stats are done right; No repeated stats to pad book length and the stats actually carry some significance rather than just existing.

There is good character development and realistic relationship building. The main character gains a double edge power that is integral to the story development, however it doesn't make the MC overpowered.

Honestly, everything is really well done with this book. There is no filler, boring points, or predictably. 5/5 this book is definitely worth the credit!

Supurb!

I actually like the more cliche approach at the beginning. The isekai approach. start at level 0 and train hard in an over leveled zone. I was a fan of watching the growth. When it starts getting into the story itself it takes a slight downward turn. The MCs strength and abilities are all over the place. The 1st time he meets the girl he out classes her severely just based on stats. Then they spar and she is keeping up with him becuase she is more "well-trained".

Idk, if you are making an OP character then just make them OP. The back and forth is bothersome.

overall a pretty good book, but on the fence about book two, wasn't a fan of the ending.

I preferred the start to the end.

I don't understand why this book gets a bad rap the only bad part in my opinion is the beginning is a bit slow and takes a while to get going yes they mentioned stats quite a bit however this is pretty standard for the genre overall I think I recommend this book give it a shot and see what you think

overall I enjoyed this

I've listened to a lot of LitRPGs by this point, and now I can see how some people would be upset by some things in here. BUT just take the time and enjoy the story. there's no need to trash on it because you have an odd comparison bubble built into your head. Personally, I think there was an absurd amount of stat reading that could've been cut in half, especially with this being a continuation story. Also I understand the need to push combat for a character arc, but instead of the character coming up with questions because of being beat down constantly and learning new skills to then have questions it could've come up more in conversations or him being less scared to ask and just go for it. But again, my opinion and I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will continue to listen to the series! As always, Travis Baldree is top tier to make everything come together!

I really enjoyed this!

I've always liked it when the MC has actual brain to some extent this one's not too bad the story goes pretty well the growth the struggle of morality for the MC is pretty good he has a dark power but he has to hold it back to hold to his morality which ain't one sided which is good I'm getting the second book for sure

this is a good one

The book starts off a bit slow but as soon as the other characters are introduced it takes off, the stats are a bit too common in the beginning as well but the author finds his stride a quarter of the way through

Great book, but starts slow

This was a fun listen. I liked the various characters involved throughout the story. I think my favorite was Pit. Everyone should have a pet like him. I didn't find the stats to be overly tedious like other reviewers.

Great Start to the Series

I loved this book. Can't wait for book 2! The narrator was good. The story was even better. I love an over powered main character.

Great book

Unexpectedly awesome story I picked up for a road trip. Travis Baldree kills the narration as always, but the story and writing itself will keep listening/ reading late into the night.

amazing
