About this listen

Combined volumes one and two. This is a guide for beginning private guitar teachers, and private or group lessons in your own home or at the student's residence. I have taught private guitar lessons for over 30 years, and my accumulative experience has served me well. I have played in popular bands as a singer/musician for over 1,500 nights, and I have taught guitar as a rewarding and enjoyable experience. I have taught all age groups from five to 80, beginning and advanced. These private guitar teacher tips work with acoustic or electric guitars.

Not Much

Information is sketchy and is centered around what can scarcely be called the "business" end of teaching guitar: For example, how to charge, when to charge, how to interact with different types and ages of students, etc. What is not present are any suggestions as to which methods, which music book series to teach, advice on lesson planning, what to teach, etc. I teach people how to read musical notation...I have very little use for tablature. My philosophy is to teach music, not the "put this fingure here and this one here" approach. By the way, neither method is ever mentioned in the book. I give it two stars, because it does offer some good ideas, basically food for thought. It was definitely not what I was hoping for. You decide whether it is worth the small amount of money based on my opinion given here. I would definitely not waste a credit on it.

Very Educational

Would you listen to Ultimate Guide for Teaching Private Guitar Lessons! again? Why?

I would listen again. I would like to refresh my memory every so often on how to go about teaching guitar to different people.

What did you like best about this story?

How much I learned about teaching guitar lessons.

What about John Lewis and Vocus Focus ’s performance did you like?

You could hear in John Lewis' voice a passion for music and creativity. It sounded like he was meticulous about tone, inflection, editing, and enthusiasm in his voice for the type of book he was narrating.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it was only about an hour which held my attention to the end.
