About this listen

Stanley's lonely.

Before the strange events of the past few months, the self-proclaimed alien abductee and T.V. crime drama aficionado would drink and bowl with his friends, Herb and Dallas. But no one's seen hide nor heard of Dallas in the longest, and Herb's been spending all of his time with his girlfriend, Lois.

That just leaves Stanley, and Stanley's lonely.

Everything changes when Stanley becomes a zombie. With each bite, he gains a new friend. Soon, he has more friends than he would've ever thought possible. If he could just sink his teeth into Herb, Lois, and Dallas, they'd all be together again, and everything would be perfect.

Meanwhile...

Everything changes when Stanley's home is vandalized. After someone breaks all of his dinner plates and ruins his last hot dog, a zombie apocalypse overtakes Trappersville. To make matters worse, the Society shows up. Stanley and his supernatural friends are trapped between an ancient order of monster hunters and a hungry zombie horde. If that wasn't bad enough, one zombie in particular looks a lot like Stanley.

Things aren't looking good for the fine folks of Trappersville, Wisconsin. Will Stanley, his friends, and the entire town be lost?

Over Stanley's dead bodies.

Surprisingly good!

I went into this one not knowing what to expect. I was thinking that a story with the focus on Stanley might be a little on the dull side... I was wrong!

This was probably my favorite book in the series. The zombies were hilarious. Stanley climbed near the top of my favorite characters list for this series.

There were a few too many alarm clock references, but it ties into the story well.

Overall, it was an easy listen that hits the funny bone.

Humor, horror, and zombie mayhem!

"Undead Cheesehead" by Scott Burtness, narrated by Ray Lesniewski, is a zany and gripping Midwest monster tale. Burtness crafts a hilariously eerie narrative, complemented by Lesniewski's engaging narration. With its blend of humor, horror, and zombie mayhem, this story is a cheese-filled delight you won't want to miss.

I have a big ole smile on my dumb face

Stanley. A book about Stanley. I wasn't sure if Monsters in the Midwest Book 3 would grab me the way Herb and Dallas had in their respective books. But damn me, it did. Kudos to Scott for making me care (more) about our beloved quirky townie. And, I gotta say, that hook you used had me going for a bit. I had to double back a time or two to ensure I was on the right chapter.

The one thing I will give this book is just when you think you have it figured out, you don't. And I am all the happier for it. I won't go into plot details because even a little will spoil the whole. So, do yourself a favor and pick this one up! If you liked books 1 & 2, you will love this capstone to the Monsters in the Midwest series. I do hope that Scott gets an itch and delves a little deeper w/these beloved characters!

I received this copy from the author directly, but my opinions are my own!

Stanley finds his groove!

This third book wraps the trio up in a nice bow and will surprise you in more ways than one. When You start this three book series you will find yourself drawn in until you get to the very end. Author Scott Burtness provides the perfect mix of "Holy Crap" "Did he just say that" and "What the heck is next". This humorous Horror title will drag you to the North woods of Wisconsin and won't let you out until you have decided you want to become part of this Clan of mixed up monsters. Narrator Ray Lesniewski did a perfect job of bringing these characters to life.
