This is a fun story. The characters are endearing. It is a sweet romance.

I enjoyed listening to this endearing story narrated excellently by Billie Bryant, I like books about shifters but there aren't many about Unicorns so I was eager to listen to this one.

Angel's a Unicorn shifter working as a vet in a small town close to a portal to a magical realm where sometimes magical creatures come through it. His partners are also shifters one a bear and the other a wolf; when magical creatures come through the portal, they capture them and then return them to the realm they belong in. Apart from that he doesn't see much excitement, some unusual things yes, like a cow stuck in the trunk of a tree for one - but then he met Everly when she brought what looked like a baby dragon/lizard into his surgery.

When Everly decided to go on vacation in La Puerta to de-stress from her job as Manager of a Five Star Gaumet French restaurant she never expected it to change the course of her life forever. It all started when she found what looked like a blue and white rock amongst the leaves while walking in the woods. When she went to pick it up she got her first surprise when a pair of eyes suddenly opened, on closer inspection she saw that it was a small white-winged dragon with what she thought might be an injured wing. She took her find to the local vets to see if its wing could be healed. When Everly showed her find to Angel he knew it was a baby dragonette, a creature that stays small about the size of a cat. But when it saw him the small dragonette immediately tried to escape into Everly's blouse.

Angel was expecting something unusual when he entered the treatment room, but when he reached for it, the baby dragonette immediately ran inside Everly's blouse he was in for an even bigger surprise because when he looked at Everly he knew that this brown-eyed beauty was his true mate.

The next day they and Rock, the baby dragonette go on a picnic and tell each other all about their likes, dislikes and families. Their attraction is mutual and they seem perfect for each other when he reveals his secret and she doesn't run screaming for the hills he begins to hope they could have a future together, but can they?

I'm not going to say, no more spoilers from me what I will say is that this extremely enjoyable story had me hooked from beginning to end.
