About this listen

Will my roller coaster romance with my hunky orc neighbor fly off the rails or ignite our hearts forever?

After inheriting my estranged dad's defunct kiddie amusement park, I turn in my corporate badge and return to my old hometown. Despite the issues I had with my dad, I rediscover the fun I missed out on while I lived ten years in the city. I'm determined to turn Quirky Kingdom into the showpiece it used to be. Problem is—more than just the rides need fixing. It's way more than I can handle on my own.

I tap my new neighbor to help—Rexin, a hunky orc handyman who's also a single dad extraordinaire. Since it's summer, he brings his twelve-year-old son to the job with him.

As we grease wheels on the purple turtle ride and get the elephant carriages running again, sparks ignite between us. I begin to believe moving home was the right idea. But my past makes me gun-shy, and I'm not sure if what we've started will make me want to live in this town forever. His son playing matchmaker is cute, but it sure isn't helping.

Only time can tell if our rollercoaster relationship will clickety-click its way to something special or veer off track forever.

Single Orc Dad is part of the Sweet Monster Treats collection of standalones, each with its own Happily Ever After. Single Orc Dad is also a companion story in Ava's Love at First Orc Series.

Expect size difference, plenty of spice, falling for a neighbor, a single dad (ha, right?!), his sweet matchmaking son who desperately wants a mom, laugh-out-loud moments, moving home and finding the "one," a handyorc who's handy in many ways (wink), and a happy ever after.

Sweet with no depth

This story is just okay. It’s a niche genre with overly fast matches, sticky sweet story lines and abruptly quick resolutions, this is great for quick consumption with a steamy zing and a happy ending. It is a sweet, stereotypical story with little to no depth. It’s not for everyone and it did not make me want to pick up the rest of the series, but it’s okay in a pinch to fill a couple of hours.

I give up!

It seems to me that Ava Ross greatly dislikes writing monster romance, and she therefore just phones it in. I love Ava's alien romance books, but this will definitely be the last monster romance I purchase from her. I truly suspect she's writing in this genre simply because it's popular, not because she feels any passion for it.

I was unimpressed by Candy For My Orc Boss, but I wanted to give her another chance. I was disappointed. These books simply lack any real substance. There's no character development. The plots are sketchy at best. And the lack of chemistry is mind-boggling. Her alien romance books are so well written that it seems like an entirely different author has written these monster romances.

I did finish the audiobook, although my attention wandered during much of it. It's cute and sweet. The orc's 10-year-old son saves the book, as he is the most interesting & engaging character.

The excellent narration by both voice performers was the most redeeming aspect of the book. If not for their talented and enjoyable performance, the book would have definitely been a DNF.

I recommend you skip this book, and try Vork. It's sweet, heartfelt, absorbing, entertaining, funny, and well written. The characters are well developed. The world building is vivid and detailed, and the plot is interesting.

Great story!

This was a VERY unusual but really great romance of two very unlikely people meeting and falling in love. I can’t wait to start another of Ava Ross’ books!

Book 1

I liked the cameo reference you made with the title Candy for my Orc Boss. Very Stephen King.

Pleasantly surprised...

I purchased this book on a whim duringthe 2 for 1 and was pleasantly surprised; however, it was super condensed and I wish that it was longer so that the author could've created more world and relationship building.

Another winner!

I really enjoyed the storyline with this book. It was so good to follow both their stories as it transformed. I am sure you will enjoy it too!

I will say 4ish hours for $20 is super steep price.

I did love the story. the characters are adorable. some of the background is a bit muddled and confusing. like the daughter died. but not in child birth but shortly after while the mysterious friend whisked the child away only to leave him at the mouth of a cave with a note pinned to him... and then we let the child go with his grandparents, who show up out of the blue passive-aggressive to the ork dad who has taken care of him for 12 years. then on top of all that they lied... then we totally skipped over park which was trying to be fixed. I feel like even though we started with the female lead her whole story got pushed aside. while we got vague retellings or info about the male lead and his kid... all in all not a bad book. glad I had a free credit to read this story.

It was okay. C+. I wish it was free.

It was okay. C+. I wish it was free. I found it to be repetitive. I picked this one up during the two for one sale, so I don’t feel 100% terrible about it. Just 50%. … It’s fin. In my opinion, it lacks true plot, character development and 5/5 spice. I vote for the entire Ava Ross Orc series to be shifted to the free with membership section.
