Publisher's summary

After the shocking revelations of the previous book, Bitter Bite, the world of Ashland's become even more sinister, and Gin Blanco (aka Ashland's most fearsome assassin, the Spider) no longer knows whom - or what - she can count on. Only one thing is for certain: Danger and new enemies await Gin in Unraveled, book 15 in the New York Times best-selling Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series that RT Book Reviews calls "unbeatable entertainment!"

What could go wrong when you're trying to unravel a decades-old conspiracy?

As the current queen of the Ashland underworld, you would think that I, Gin Blanco, would know all about some secret society controlling things from behind the scenes. I might be the Spider, the city's most fearsome assassin, but all my Ice and Stone elemental magic hasn't done me a lick of good in learning more about the Circle. Despite my continued investigations, the trail's gone as cold as the coming winter.

So when Finnegan Lane, my foster brother, gets word of a surprising inheritance, we figure, why not skip town for someplace less dangerous for a few days? That place: Bullet Pointe, a fancy hotel resort complex plus Old West theme park that Finn now owns lock, stock, and barrel. At first all the struttin' cowboys and sassy saloon girls are just hokey fun. But add in some shady coincidences and Circle assassins lurking all around, and vacationing becomes wilder - and deadlier - than any of us expected.

Good thing this assassin brought plenty of knives to the gunfight....

Good

As with all of the other series it's a good book. My only complaint is as with all the books she always wins, don't matter what twists or turns she always wins. They joy is seeing how she wins

A second vacation goes awry

After the previous events in Bitter Bite, Finn finds that he has inherited an Old West theme park. Gin and the gang decide to take a vacation to visit and find out if there are any clues that Diedre might have left behind.

“To me, vacation just means extreme danger in a different place.”

We all know how Gin’s last vacation turned out and this one was just as eventful. It isn’t long after they arrive at Bullet Pointe that they realize Diedre left them a treasure hunt and that The Circle is after the treasure too. This is the first time we have seen what Hugh Tucker is capable of and why he is in charge of all these minions for The Circle. While he still stayed in the shadows for the most part, you can tell he is dangerous and will be a difficult enemy for Gin.

I loved the whole treasure hunt paired with the wild west theme because it was very entertaining and unique. In this one we get to see new characters in the backup role with Silvio, Phillip, and Lorelei helping Gin take down these cowboys. I also liked the dwarf resort manager Ira. He was a cranky old man who really loved the theme park.

Overall this was another wonderful adventure for Gin. I am enjoying this story arc and can’t wait to see what information they uncover next about the Circle.

I love all the books I've listened to so far.

Would you listen to Unraveled again? Why?

Someday yes. I might. It's not my style to go back to read or listen but I probably would read any of the series again in the distant future.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I think it's just a little extreme but again, that's why I find it so interesting.

The Spider Goes West

Another Awesome installment in a fresh setting!! This installment takes the Spider to Disneyland meets the Wild West. We also get some fun new characters to like/hate and another fun adventure for Gin. I enjoy that Gin is Queen Assassin and still gets tricked, captured and occasionally rescued. The Character may be the head of the criminal underworld, but she’s still only human. Gin’s family and friends are always in the wings waiting to help and that really builds the character and world settings. Ignore the previous review they obviously don’t know good writing!!

Still exciting and so much fun!

Any additional comments?

Fifteen books in and the story is still as exciting and so much fun that it is one of my favorite series. Jennifer Estep, keeps delivering the perfect blend of kickass elemental assassin, meets down home country girl and I love it!

Unraveled is the second book in the series I have listened to on Audiobook. I am tempted to go back and start again from the beginning, re-listen to all of them. I loved Lauren Fortgang’s narration that much, she has captured Gin perfectly and breathed life into her....Sara

Can never go wrong with this series

Once again Gin is up to the challenge. Different setting but same dastardly bad guys. This book sets up for a whole new series of books in this adventure.
