About this listen

Noramary came out of the parlor into the hall. Stunned by what she had just heard, she felt slightly light-headed and leaned against the closed door for a moment to steady herself. The shock of Winnie's elopement during the night had been followed by a second - the staggering request of her foster parents that she step into her errant cousin's place as the bride of Duncan Montrose! "So you see, my dear, why we must ask this of you?" Aunt Betsy's voice rang in her ears. Noramary closed her eyes, bringing back the scene that had just taken place. As her aunt had explained the dilemma Winnie's irresponsibility had caused and what must now be done, Noramary had sat very still, eyes downcast, hands folded in her lap, hearing but not fully absorbing her aunt's words. Now those same words burst upon her, strong and clear: "—marry Duncan Montrose!"

Valiant Bride is a historical romance that brings to life a young woman's choice between duty and love.

I loved it. There were some frustrating parts but it was beautifully written. The reader made Nora mary sound very pitiful though. Also Duncans accent was a bit weird. Not a really good Scottish accent but A for Effort. All in All I was pleased as this was one of my favorite books from my youth.

A Beautiful Read.

This is a sweet book very reminiscent of Grace Livingston Hill. In fact, it has a similiar plot to one of my all time favorite books Marcia Schuyler. That is why I read it. While I still like Marcia better I enjoyed this book a great deal and found it hard to put down. Noramary and Duncan are not so very well rounded but it's still worth reading.
The reader is pretty awful. She is ok when she is reading women's voices but she very badly tries for male voices. Duncan sounds like he is 85. I am not a picky listener but since I paid for this book I would expect a better reader.

Great book, terrible reader!

I loved this story and how the author brought the plot together. It was truly inspiring.

I liked the story, but the narrator's Scottish accent was hard to understand. I will keep reading the series, though.

Great story, ok accent

I enjoyed this book immensely. The death of a youthful promise of love gives way to a decision to love deliberately, passionately.

A little to "light" to listen to... plot was thin and predictable. Too short. Not enough suspense.

predictable but good
