Story
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

When Susannah McKittrick leaves Nantucket for the boomtown of Seattle, she is hardly looking to strike it rich; she is headed west to care for a newborn left motherless after Susannah's cousin died. Although the rigorous trip depletes all of her savings, Susannah is certain she is doing the right thing. She is less sure when she meets the infant's father, wealthy businessman Aubrey Fairgrieve - who seems embittered toward love and marriage, and indifferent toward the precious baby Susannah is so eager to care for.

Good story, super annoying narration
I sped up the rate of narration to 1.20 which might have helped with the annoyance of the narrator. I will say this was my second time trying to make it through (love Laura Franz). Last time I gave up. This time I tweaked the speed and think it helped me get past some of my irritation from the narrator. It was worth powering through as it was a great story!

Adventures of the heart poignantly set in days gone by
What I personally love most in a book is for the faithfulness of God and the power of this Word to shine through without being presented in an unpalatable way. This book is all that and a full day of skiing in powdery snow... or whatever brand of adventure you love most. Laura Franz is a top notch storyteller who is poetic with her words, though they ring true as opposed to flowery. Every character comes to life and the main characters are the ultimate hero and heroine. I was truly transported as I listened. I’ve noticed that my life and others’ lives rarely run smoothly—and that is certainly the case in this story. A powerful touch of Grace is always present, which is also true of real life as a Christian. In many ways, this book is a school on how satisfying life is with God and how utterly empty it is without Him.

Clean Romance with Substance 💓
This well written and narrated hstorical romance takes place in Pennsylvania, USA. This book has memorable characters, a touch of mystery and a story that is both heart wrenching and triumphant. It is a clean Christian read that includes true to life events, which I'm sure, some Christians may find unappealing. I applaud the author for allowing these characters to sin and not be perfect. These imperfections enhanced the believability and made for a better story. Yes, bad things happen to good people....and this book shows that although God may allow a bad situation to happen He still holds our hand and guides us through it. I will definitely be getting the next book in this series.
If you enjoy clean romances with substance.......give this one a try. 😉

an epic love story!
An epic story of love strong enough to survive pressure, trials, and evil intentions yet still triumph. Eden is a gentle and kind heroine, and Silas is the best sort of hero with his determination and steadfast character. I will have Silas's strong Scots speech in my head now thanks to the narrator, Angela Brazil.
I can't believe it's taken me so long to read this Frantz novel! Now I can say I've read all of hers.
