EXCELLENT BOOK!!

I absolutely love the vampire spirit books! what makes it different from many other books, is there are different voices for each character! if you haven't already listened to these, please do!

Great Introduction to the Series!

This is the first book in The Perpetual Creatures Saga. This is a great introduction to the Series. This story is complex, original, interesting, and intriguing. The characters are great. The full cast narration is impressive and really well done. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook — at my request — and have voluntarily left this review.

Vampire spirit

I love the cast of narrators it gives the books something more and brings out the characters.
The story is different and it was this that had me hooked. There are some scenes that are slow paced but other then this it is a really good book.
Would recommend.

Fantastic

This is such a fantastic start of series. In depth characters that I couldn't help becoming invested in early on. The multiple narrators really brought the story amd characters to life. I look firward to seeing where the journey leads in book 2

Very good

I found this audiobook to be very good. It has a tendency to draw you in and make you feel like you’re there with the characters. The narrator does a wonderful job of reading each character and bringing them to life.

A very good intro to the series

"Vampire Spirit" is a very good introduction to the series, though it has its weaknesses, too:)
What are the strong points? The main character that you can easily get to like and keep your fingers crossed for, the concept of divine vampires, "normal" vampires and vampires gone savage, which is a great basis for many conflicts and plot twists, the mystery of Jerusa's uniquness... and the ability of Mr Beyers to create action scenes of almost cinematic quality:) They are fast and dynamic, and you have a feeling of being there and seeing everything with your own eyes... I also like some of the characters he created; I am still not certain whether I know all about them or whether they will turn out completely different from what they seem to be, as their motivations are not clear at all - I suspect there's much more to them and they'll surpise us in the next books in the series...

What about the weaknesses of the book? The pace is a bit uneven; as it's the first in the series, it has to introduce us to the world of Jerusa and then vampires, and that takes a bit of explaining, which at times slows the plot down and feels like too much talking, too little action, especially in the first half of the book. The second thing is, some of the characters feel two-dimensional, too schematic, kind of being there for the sake of being there or to follow a pattern typical for the genre (like an evil twin...)

Overall, however, it's a great listen and a book that makes you want to continue to find out what else Jerusa is capable of and what else is there in store for her and her allies...

As for the narration, I liked it very much: different narrators reading different characters' parts make all the voices sound natural and unique, and it leaves us with the feeling of almost listening to a radio play. The voices are well matched, too - Jerusa sounds really young (a teenager just recently turned adult - she is 18, after all:)) compared to the ancient, five thousand years old vampire woman (sorry, no name here as I have no idea how to spell that name:)) - and I like that a lot.
I also think that acting-wise all the narrators do a great job, interpreting their characters very well, convincingly conveying their personalities, feelings and emotions.

Great Introductory Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Story

So this was kind of YA (main character in HS), but some scenes were pretty brutal so I could see anyone being entertained. Jerusa is a girl with someone else's heart, and a scar that colors her feelings about the world as well as other people's interactions with her, garnering a slew of fun nicknames and bullying. Her mom's a helicopter parent and a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. All she has to look forward to is hanging out with an older man who's as much of a father figure as she can ask for, and hang out with her ghost friend.

But that's not much of a story, so instead she's asked out by an attractive guy, and her older friend decides to leave her his house to get away from her mom. She meets a strange naked man and gives him clothes and a name. Then after an argument she runs to the house to get away from her mom and ends up in the complicated world of vampires, as one of them. There are ancient societies, and laws and rules that her and her companions need to be cognizant of as they attempt to keep themselves alive in an unfortunate position. Along the way the characters are fleshed out and made whole, people previously two dimensional are shown to have more depth than previously expected and there are moments that hit all the harder because of that. You won't know where things are going, but if you're like me you'll be rooting for our characters the whole way. And the whole cast narration was fantastic, just adding to the theatricality of the audiobook as it was like a table read of a script more than a simple narration.

Great story

I have enjoyed all of these books and I was delighted to find that they are being released in audio form. I'm not a big fan of multiple narrators, but this is well done.
I can't wait till August when the next one comes out.
