About this listen

Sophie Katz, bestselling mystery writer and amateur sleuth, has just discovered that Anatoly, her sexy Russian P.I boyfriend of six years is actually married to the daughter of a Russian mafia boss. Devastated by his betrayal, Sophie banishes him from their beautiful San Francisco Victorian home.

Desperate to distract their friend and pull her out of her depression, Dena and Marcus spirit Sophie away to Vegas for a "fun filled weekend" at a Sex Toy Trade Show. But bigger trouble awaits in Vegas. Anatoly is there; his beautiful Russian wife is there; and so is a dead body stuffed into a closet. And to make matters worse someone has gone out of their way to implicate Sophie in the murder. Sophie's completely over her head and when a mysterious man offers her help she's tempted to take it. But who is he and whose side is he on? It's also clear that whoever the bad guy is he would have no problem killing Anatoly, and although she may want to kill him herself, no one else is going to hurt Sophie's man.

Another great book!

I love this series by Kyra Davis! Each book will make you laugh and pulls you deeper into Sophie Katz's world. Gabra Zackman does a wonderful job with narration.

Not the best in the series

I love the others, but this one was no where near as entertaining. The narrator changed voices mid character, and more than once pulled my focus from the story to cringe at the reading. This book fell flat.

OMG!!! She was so whinny

Would you try another book from Kyra Davis and/or Gabra Zackman?

Yes, I am a fan of this series. this book was not my favorite

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Maybe clear the mis-understanding up sooner, and not have her whine the first part of the book. This book for me was painful to get through.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I think the narrator was fine as always. It was this book

Do you think Vanity, Vengeance and a Weekend In Vegas needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, this cast of characters are still some of my favorites

My favorite of the series

I loved this one so much. I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation and the ending was predictable and unexpected at the same time. I grew to love all of the characters and felt like I was there in the story.

Disappointed

I love this series, but this book was horrible. One must always suspend belief when reading these books, but this one was too fantastic. I won't post any spoilers, but I had to force myself to finish it. Every single character in this series behaved completely out of character and made ridiculous decisions. If this is the end of the series, I wish it had ended strong, instead of with this nonsense. 😕

Cracking up! Another 5 star listen...

I don't know what is better, the amazing Gabra Zackman narrating in her signature "Sophie Katz" voices, seamlessly transferring from character to character without missing a beat...or the whitty dialogue of both the primary story, and the chapter beginning quotes.

This book made me laugh out loud many times and it was a quick, fun listen that kept you guessing on who the villians were all throughout.

Definately recommend! Listen to them all if you haven't already, this one was worth the wait!

Great story with fabulous characters

What did you love best about Vanity, Vengeance and a Weekend In Vegas?

The setting and story line was good. Sometimes it took a direction I expected then quickly went down a different path. The supporting charactures diversity and insane moves give Sophie something special, makes me want to see what will happen next.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mary Ann is my favorite characture in this book. You will have to listen to find out why.

Have you listened to any of Gabra Zackman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Gabra does well with everything she performs. Following Gabra is how I found Kyra Davis!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! And I did. Not only did I listen to it in one sitting, I plan to listen again in a few days.

Any additional comments?

Great author and narrator! A bad narrator will ruin a book, Gabra is one of the best. Ms. Davis writes a great story every time. I can't wait to read her next work.

Not laugh out loud funny

I downloaded this because is was an ACX editors pick for "laugh out loud funny" I have ready Kyra Davis' books before and some are funny but this was was absolutely not funy. Sophie finds Anatoli is married and she runs from the Russian mob...in a not funny kind of way. Not sure if the editors just got mixed up. Although the books is a nice light snack, I never laughed out loud...not even once.

Sofie and her friends in Vegas - just as fun as you'd expect! Gabra Zackman continues to add to the draw of this series with her great delivery of Kyra Davis' newest installment.
