Publisher's summary

He got the wrong man. He's being hunted by the right one. Worlds collide when enemies meet, but only one man can survive.

"There are no words other than, HOLD ON!" (Terrill Carpenter)

When former Special Operations legend Xander King moved his Vegas celebration to a yacht off the coast of the Virgin Islands, he was supposed to be taking some much needed time off. When he woke up in the hospital a week later, all he had time to do then...was run. It's bad enough that Russia's most feared assassin is after him. But it's the man who sent this deadly killer, and why he sent him, that has Xander desperately scrambling every resource at his disposal.

As if things aren't difficult enough, Xander has been forced to cooperate with the CIA, and mistrust begins to unravel his new team. With lies and betrayal burdening every decision, the pressure mounts to end the threat before the threat ends them. The pressure...Xander can handle. It's the shocking revelation of a jaw-dropping secret that finally brings him to his knees.

Injured, exhausted, and furious, with everything he has ever fought for now in question, the only thing left for him to do is fight. This time, however, Xander will have to overcome far more than just bullets if he hopes to vanquish this enemy.

The series has people raving about their favorite new action hero and his vigilante team. They love this different twist on their favorite action-thriller genre.

Great story, bad narrator

I wish this narrator would stick to LGBT rom coms because he makes every character flamboyantly gay sounding, which doesn’t fit the story line. His voice inflections are I’ll timed and unfitting of the scenarios. The story line is great and deserves a narrator with the ability to do more than 2 voices: flaming gay man, annoying valley girl.

Good read

Zander’s character is like a super hero. Looking forward to the next book now that his search for his fathers killer is finished.

Narrator Ruins

I had to keep it at 1.8x speed to even tolerate it. The last 30 minutes was at 3.5x 😂

Painful to listen to.

While the story is the usual Xander King action. The narrator was painful to listen to. So much that I could not finish the book.

Interesting twists...

The book was entertaining enough, it just felt a little phoned in. The characters we two-dimensional and far less inspired than was justified by the events taking place in the plot. Maybe the first book was good enough that it set unrealistic expectations for the next release but I was left with higher hopes that just didn't feel met by the end of the book. Certainly worth the read… just not all it could have been.

Not that good

The narrator’s voice when he did some of the female characters was very bad. The story was not that good and way to many one liners that were not that funny.

I enjoy the series but this one book sucked.

The story line was lame.
The narrator used a whining voice for Kyle who is supposed to be a tough guy.
All the other books in this series were 5 Star!
