She came to him as a precious gift, a naked angel rolled in a rug. Once he gazed into her green eyes, saw her tangle of honey-blonde hair, he was undone with passion.
Elizabeth would never surrender. He was a hated Montgomery - she was a Chatworth - and the blood war between their families raged on, a wildfire of rape, murder, and betrayal.
Elizabeth vowed to fight the handsome lord, to resist the burning desire in his eyes - no matter how great the temptation.

If you could sum up Velvet Angel in three words, what would they be?

Great Love Story with lots of action, strong women, and virile heroes. I like the original Montgomery stories even more than their descendants' books. I hope that Audible will carry all of the Montgomery books soon. Narrator, Gabra Zackman brought Velvet Angel to life with her excellent narration.Who was your favorite character and why?
Miles is the youngest Montgomery best known for his care of all women and children, yet deadly in battle. He is the definition of a sensitive hero. I read this book when it was originally published. The Audible version is even better due to the excellent narration.Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene is when the other 3 Montgomery husbands hide from their furious wives letting Miles get them safely home after locking them securely in the tower. If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Miles' story carries on the excellent story of the Montgomery brothers combining the history, humor, and romance of the medieval period in which they are set.Any additional comments?

What did you love best about Velvet Angel?
This is a classic historical romance from the '80's. Most long time fans of this author have awaited this series, never giving up hope they would be recorded. The stories are linked, and are written to entice you to buy all four brothers stories. If, you love a classic series, they don't get better than these. These early books made the author famous. These older books do not resemble author's current modern writing so if you like her current work, read reviews for her historical work. What other book might you compare Velvet Angel to and why?
If you are new to this classic series, and don't know if you like the style of the '80ies, then note: #1 is the most intense and sets the stories for remaining brothers, if you don't like to always question what the author is eluding to, then you may have to start with it. Since I purchased all of the books, I listened out of order #2,#4,#1,#3 as that was how I remembered loving the brothers/wives. Each book has some outstanding lines not to be missed!Which scene was your favorite?
The opening carpet scene of course, and the escape with Sir Roger. Don't miss the title line, you will bark out loud with laughter, I did. I had forgotten how good J.D. can write!Any additional comments?
You must listen to this series with the new 1.25x speed to update the story and give it the pace the author intended.Note: reader Gabra Zackman does this series justice. I am a long time fan of her work with over a 100 reads from her. Her male voices are as yummy as they get. A.K.A. Isabelle Gordon. See her wonderful Lorie Forester/ Buckhorn series, if you liked these brothers."You Must Be As Heavy As My Horse!"
