Publisher's summary

He is an expert with the latest technology...a madman with the mind of a genius and the heart of a killer. He quietly stalks his prey. Then he haunts the police with cryptic riddles about the crimes he is about to commit - always solved moments too late to save the victims' lives.

Police lieutenant Eve Dallas found the first victim butchered in his own home. The second lost his life in a vacant luxury apartment. The two men had little in common. Both suffered unspeakable torture before their deaths. And both had ties to an ugly secret of 10 years past - a secret shared by none other than Eve's new husband, Roarke.

Fantastic Series!!

it's hard to believe these early books in the series were written in the mid to late 1990s! While it has taken me considerable time to get used to this narrator vs the original narrator which I much prefer, it seems the narrator is finally starting to figure out the characters and portray them better. Don't let the narrator dissuade you from continuing the series as it's just to good to pass on.

Good read - unnerving subject.

Ericsson and Robb always leave you wanting more. The subject matter here was disturbing though.

Loved It!

I've read quite a few of the 'In death' series and have enjoyed them all. Now that I have been using the audible version; I have started at the beginning of the series again. I absolutely love Susan Ericksen as the narrator and feel her accents for each character is marvelous. It would be a huge mistake to ever change narrators in my opinion. Susan Ericksen is the perfect one for this series!

Favorite Series! Fantastic Book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Vengeance in Death to be better than the print version?

I've only listened to the audible format but I can't imagine reading the books now that I've listened to them. Susan Ericksen is the voice of this series for me. She does an amazing job. I've listened to a lot of books and this is by far the best narration for a series I've listened to. Superbly done Ms. Ericksen.

What did you like best about this story?

The characterization.

Any additional comments?

I'm obsessed with is series.

Oreat story!

Anything about Roark is a great read, but this tale of his past is fantastic.

Dynamic duo again

Although I know this series is kind of light and silly, I really enjoy each and every book I listen to.

Great Story Great Narrator

I am a huge fan of these books and this one did not let me down.
One of my main loves is the Narrator Susan Ericksen. She is the narrator of all of the ones I have listened to so far and some of the Nora Robers too and I just love the way she does it.
I love her voices, the rhythm of her voice and the way she tells the story.
As for the story itself I have listened to a few and read a few of the In Death series now and they are right up my alley.
A great murder mystery set not too far into the future but quite a different future than I envision we will have. Lead detective Eve Dallas is a great character she grows and changes with each installment while her husband Rourke sounds good enough to eat!!!
All the other characters are well likeable and fun too and they bounce around together in these stories so well.
They may not be everyone's cup of tea but I love them.

A blast from the past

Would you listen to Vengeance in Death again? Why?

I enjoy running through the entire In Death series. This one is interesting as it gives us a rare look into Roarke's past - his days gone by and even takes us to his home in Ireland. I like it when the focus isn't necessarily all about Eve - but includes the other characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

In this one - Summerset would have to be my favorite character. He gets an opportunity to be more than just Roarke's man - he's an important part of the story. We learn a bit more about their relationship and he finally starts to see Eve in different eyes.

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

She is always such an incredible narrator. She does an excellent job of drawing you into the story.
