Publisher's summary

The Daughters of Darkness are a group of heroines who may or may not know each other, but all have the same father, Vlad Montour.

Victoria is a hunter vampire, one of the last of her kind. She's the best of the best.

When she finds out one of her marks is actually her sister she lets her go, only to end up on the wrong side of the council.

Forced to prove herself, she hunts her next mark, a werewolf. Injured and hungry, she is forced to do what she must to survive. Her actions upset the ancient council and she finds herself now being the one thing she has always despised - the hunted.

Good

Good story but I had a problem with the narrator's pitch which was too young and to high for a one hundred year plus old vampire. However, once I adjusted to the voice I enjoyed the story.

Daughters of Darkness!

I love stories about vampires but it seems that they all are the same anymore. Author W.J. May gives us a different vampire story and I love it. The story goes rather quick because it's a novella. Victoria is a Hunter Vampire who is one of the last of her kind. Her dad Vlad Montour is a real tough act to follow. Victoria is always trying to make him proud of her, seeking his approval, Not only is Victoria the last of her kind but she's the best of the best at her job but she also trains other hunters including the males. She gets her mark and sets out to kill her but things go awry when she finds the girl Tori, only to learn that she has the same marks on her as she does. She realizes that Tori is her sister. She then does something she has never done before and lets her go. For the first time in her life she doesn't kill her mark and this causes problems with the council. She's given her next mark, a werewolf and has to go in alone without her partner. This is where the story really takes off. Once reaching the bar she tries to get her mark but he's not alone, he has his brother with him but things really heat up when another vampire shows up. All I can say is you must read/listen to it. I really enjoyed W.J. May's story and her different take on vampires. This story was unique, intriguing, and filled with twists, and lots of action. I highly recommend you check this story out.

I first listened to Angel Clark the other day when I listened to another of May's stories, Courage Runs Red and it was another stellar performance and the story was perfectly written as this story is. She did a great job with her performance. I especially liked her angry male voices. I found it easy to distinguish each character throughout this story. Another perfect 5 star rating!

Great beginning 4.5

This book was great and held my interest. The narrator was great in bringing the story to life. Definitely recommend. (This does end with a cliffhanger so if you don’t like cliffhangers this story isn’t for you.)

Great series start!

What made the experience of listening to Victoria: A Vampire & Paranormal Romance the most enjoyable?

Very action packed and descriptive.

What other book might you compare Victoria: A Vampire & Paranormal Romance to and why?

Very underworld like. Fighting vampires and Lycans/werewolves. Enough similarities yet a different storyline so as to make it well worth the time to listen.

Which character – as performed by Angel Clark – was your favorite?

This was really too short to tell, or to have a favorite yet.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, as it was short. You would not want to break up this listen.

Any additional comments?

This was a great start to the series. I didn't like leaving it on a cliff hangar without the next in the series ready so caution there. However having said that, I'm excited for the next.

Really Liked This Story

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review.
I really liked this story and really hope to be able to see where the rest of the story leads to. I would recommend this to anyone that likes vampires. It is different from what I am used to in the Vampire genre.
My only problem is the story is so short. I don't really consider it a book. Maybe it is but it just seems so short. It seems like an unfinished book.

Good book

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com.

Plot: has the usual paranormal elements
Doesn't add any inventive facts or contradict what has been established in the genre.
Has a reasonable suspense dose, using the theme of family secrets.

The story doesn't raise important questions and is content to put together a supernatural hunting adventure

Good flow of language. Dialogue is predominant. Little action.

The comedy tunes down the usual violence. Nice effect.

Cliffhanger, would have preferred a complete story.

Narrator: It's not easy to get a voice that matches the narrator in the book. This time a good choice was made. I listen to many audio books and in many cases, the narrator is talented and has the ability to versify his/her voice but the voice itself does not match the character it represents.

Although I didn't like the abruptness of the end I did like the story and plan to finish the series.
