Publisher's summary

Explore the captivating history of the Vietnam War!

The Vietnam War represented a watershed not only in American and Vietnamese history but also internationally. It wasn’t just a battle between two nations, but between two ideologies, two military strategies, and a fight for the hearts and minds of two vastly different national populations.

Few conflicts in global history symbolize as much as Vietnam. From the civil rights movement to the role of the media in warfare, the Vietnam War was unique in the sense that it could not be contained as a military matter but transcended every area of Vietnamese and American society. The word "Vietnam" describes an era of history, not just an isolated war in a small nation in Southeast Asia. It is the lens through which the America and Vietnam of today must be interpreted. Few conflicts have or will ever shape the world as much as the Vietnam War.

All sides of Vietnam

I imagined this book does an excellent job of explaining how the war in Vietnam commenced years before the US arrived when the US was there and their policies, and the result. Also gives a view from not only the US but other nations and Vietnamese citizens.

it's fights and struggles for freedom

It's an excellent summary of the country's history, it's fights and struggles for freedom. How their community and leader developed, how and why the US got attached...captivating

Loved it.

Any additional comments?

A Captivating Guide to the Second Indochina War a very well written. Seldom it's better to go quickly through major events in History to get the bigger picture and see the forest for the trees so to speak. This book will present that for you.

Tells and shows the truth!!!

We listened to book on our way to LA. It got a boring mundane trip go by very quickly. The audiobook covers a lot of detail about the war....and it's not all good news. But getting about what happened during that time is pretty eye-opening and captivating.

Pieces of knowledge

An excellent summary of a complex topic. Use this as the starting point for more detailed research if necessary. For me, it included what I needed to know.

quick and accurate

This was good information but not so much you get overwhelmed. To the point, and not taking sides. Most books on Viet NAM go on and on with so Mich info it drowns you.

Easy to understand and very informative.

After listening to this book I realize a little better why I didn't know much about the war and why we were there in the first place - we weren't thought to know! Too bad we can't seem to learn from our errors. Easy to understand and very informative.

Still To Early!

I seemed to like it was a fair coverage whether or not US battle troops should have been extended. Must serve in Vietnam I had little respect for the antiwar protesting but having seen the book, it is easy to see where it all came from. Even so, it is still early for ultimate choice as to whether the war was necessary or even desirable

This was a Christmas gift....

This was a Christmas gift for my 15-year-old grandson. He was excited to get this as he is really interested in the different wars.
