Publisher's summary

Explore the captivating history of World War 1!

The first World War was one of the most devastating conflicts in our history. The tumult and chaos that remained in the wake of the first World War had far-reaching and devastating consequences, not just for Europe and the survivors of the war, but for the entire world. The ruins of Europe provided a fertile breeding ground for fierce nationalism, which led to the rise of the Third Reich and allowed the evil of Adolf Hitler to go unchecked for far too long.

In this audiobook, you will discover topics such as:

  • The fatal shots that set the stage for war
  • The Western front and the first Battle of Marne
  • War in the trenches
  • The Eastern front and the Battle of Tannenberg
  • The Battle of Ypres and the Christmas Truce
  • Second Battle of Ypres and the introduction of chemical warfare
  • Chemical warfare on the Western front
  • My boy Jack, the very human cost of the first World War
  • The Gallipoli campaign
  • The Battle of Jutland
  • The decline of the Russian empire
  • The Battle of Verdun
  • The Battle of the Somme
  • America joins the war
  • The final days of the war and the Treaty of Versailles
  • World leaders who played a pivotal role in the first World War
  • And much, much more!

Excellent recounting of this war

I found this book also hard to put down. The level of detail in the Pacific theater does not follow equally to the work put into Europe, but a book of this scale and breadth covering a topic of this magnitude would be difficult to encompass in any manner.

this book is not as exciting and nostalgic but still has excellent flavor. Unlike the first World War, this book has a good introduction and preface covering the crisis preceding the outbreak of war.

This well-written book

This well-written collection of facts is turned into a hard to put down story of our heritage. What the brave soldiers and sailors who fought in the Great War went through must not be forgotten. Thank you the author.

Extraordinary Book

This approach can be a bit trying, but the effect for those who stay the course is powerful. This is a must read for holocaust deniers, ethnic cleansers and the like.

Glad i bought this book!

Would recommend this book to anyone interested familiarizing themselves with intricate details of this terrible world war. This read will provide every nuance and subsequent aftermath for each action initiated from every nation of whom participated.Definitely not a broad overview of this war, and not for those looking for a quick insight. Would recommend to any history buff.

Quick and interesting!!

It does a wonderful job of depicting the sheer horror of war. My main complaint is that there are absolutely no maps. Also, the way it is written, the reader often loses the chronology.

All-encompassing book

I didn't know much about WW! so ordered this book. Lots of detail and sometimes dry but helpful for understanding of what led up to war and the horrors that resulted.
