About this listen

The New York Times best-selling author of The Black Jewels Trilogy transports readers to a world of magic and political unrest - where the only chance at peace requires a deadly price....

The Others freed the cassandra sangue to protect the blood prophets from exploitation, not realizing their actions would have dire consequences. Now the fragile seers are in greater danger than ever before - both from their own weaknesses and from those who seek to control their divinations for wicked purposes. In desperate need of answers, Simon Wolfgard, a shape-shifter leader among the Others, has no choice but to enlist blood prophet Meg Corbyn’s help, regardless of the risks she faces by aiding him.

Meg is still deep in the throes of her addiction to the euphoria she feels when she cuts and speaks prophecy. She knows each slice of her blade tempts death. But Others and humans alike need answers, and her visions may be Simon’s only hope of ending the conflict.

For the shadows of war are deepening across the Atlantik, and the prejudice of a fanatic faction is threatening to bring the battle right to Meg and Simon’s doorstep....

Weakest in the series

After reading the previous books, Vision in Silver was a disappointment. We left the story after just having freed a whole bunch of blood prophets, and this book picks up right after that. This slows down the pacing of the series to a crawl since the author suddenly has to make up reasons why the free prophets aren't doing so well. To do so she rewrites Meg's personality.

In the previous books we see her deal with the outside, unknown world very well. Suddenly, after months, Meg starts having difficulty dealing with everything so that there can be a contrived plot device to find out how to help the other prophets. It is a very lame and transparent way to manipulate the plot, and it rewrites Meg's character.

There's another story arc woven into it all about the one human cop, but it's uninteresting and unsurprising. The lines between 'bad guy' and 'good Other' are so clearly drawn none of the plot arc was a surprise.

The narration was okay overall, but Harris felt the need to wholeheartedly howl when the characters did. It's obnoxious.

Another great book by Anne Bishop!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook. It's a great book with multifaceted characters and an engaging storyline. The narrator is wonderful.

What did you like best about this story?

The continuing growth of the main character, Meg.

Any additional comments?

I've listened to all the books in the series and each has been wonderful. The narrator is easy to listen to and brings a distinctive 'voice' to each of the individual characters. The story and the characters continue to grow and evolve with each book.

Fun Read

It’s a Fun series, even if a little too simple.
I really enjoy the narrator too! That’s what really makes it for me. And my cat flinches or wakes up from her napping every time she hears a “wolf howl”
That’s Hysterical 😂
Thanks to both the author and narrator for the entertainment!

Entertaining

Where does Vision in Silver rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Its not one of my top listed but it is a novel that I would definitely listen to again. My job is usually very mundane and repetitive. When I listen to this it made my day go that much faster. I do recommend to hear it out at lest once.

Have you listened to any of Alexandra Harris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love the fact that she tries to give each character there own voice. I found it highly refreshing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

When I read or listen to a book I get ensnared and since I have a very active imagination it adds to my reaction. There were parts that make me edge off my seat. Its adorable that relationship Meg and Simon have. This book has them questioning some of their behaviors and what they can do as friends and maybe a bit more. The connection between them is growing more.

Any additional comments?

I was looking to see if there was a following book. Now I know I will have to wait a whole year before I can get my hands on the next book.

The blood profits guide..

Was counting down the months and now it's here . Couldn't put it down. We get to see the relationship between humans and others evolve along with Meg discovering more about blood profits. This is another great step in the series. Ann Bishops delivers.

Another great listen in the series!

Anne bishop shows again how to write an engaging story with detail that can be believed(in its context of course) the new characters added to the story provide a refreshing take. Alexandra Harris is absolutely phenomenal as a actress for this series! She has maintained the same voices and mannerisms as she did in the first two books of the series. I have laid tend to multiple books and that is not an easy tasks for most artists.

Vision in Silver another success.

I thirst for more in this series. I love the characters and would like a little more romance for Simon and Meg. It's an intelligent well written book.

16 hours & I couldn't believe it was over!

it's been a LONG time since I've gotten so involved in a new story that I couldn't believe it when the chapter I was listening to turned out to be the last chapter!
I was hesitant at first but I'm so very happy with this series and the new world that it opens up! every book goes just a little deeper into what life is like for and with the others.
I have to disagree with an earlier review that said the names of places were reminiscent of the whimsical titles found in Harry Potter books - the places all have practical simple and descriptive names created by entities seeking to attract and in some ways mimic the retail aspirations and expectations of the "clever meat" we think of as people, or humans.
it certainly Does capture the arrogance of humanity and it's inborn belief that "We" are destined for wonderful things and that all living things, all creatures, in fact all of creation is here for our convenience and benefit. It's a sure shame that we don't have some Others here to straighten us out - especially all the current chaos.

She can ROCK a storyline!

My general review of Anne Bishop's MASTERPIECES in the "A Novel of the Others" series is that if you haven't read/heard them, do so immediately! She is a fabulous master of prose, putting together wonderful little word-houses composed of interesting characters, interesting and varied environments, fantastic character interactions, and just generally putting most fiction writers to shame. READ HER STUFF!

I especially recommend the book "Murder of Crows" as something that should be required reading not in fiction clubs, but in Psychology Classes at every University and even in Psychiatry classes in medical schools! Her insights into how the human thinking processes work is beyond compare, and especially relevant in Murder of Crows is the inner workings of the mind of one of the "blood prophets," and this analysis I beileve can actually help Psychologists figure out how to better communicate with those on the Autism Spectrum, including the most severe Autistic persons. I am in awe of her brilliance and look forward to anything she may write in the future!
